So I got offered a job by this hagwon, and went through a reputable recruiter (Parks English), but I can't find ANYTHING on it.. I e-mailed the current foreign teacher, but as far anyone else whose worked there, a website ect... nothing. Should I be concerned? |

The current teacher hasn't said anything yet... but here's the deal.
I contacted a recruiter and he said had this urgent position, and it starts in about eleven days. So I talked to the school over phone, and all that. But, I cannot find anything on it online and now they are about to buy my ticket and I am nervous. Should I be? Is it normal to not have a lot of information on hagwons? |

Not finding anything might be a good thing. Usually people whine and complain, they don't really talk about the good places just the bad.
Lots of people will tell you "LOL DUDE DNT EVR GO NEWHERE B4 U TLAK TO CRRENT TEECH LOLOLOL" but it can be pretty bogus. I had great, deep philosophical conversations with the dude I replaced and he butt-****** me sideways.
Any place is a gamble, check out your contract and use your womens intuition to tell if a place sucks or not, everything else is a grain of salt in the ocean of tears. |

Thats why you talk to other current teachers ALSO, not just the teacher your replacing. |

Okay, thanks for the input! I will wait and see what the current teacher says. Is it normal for hagwons to not have websites though? |

The hagwon may well have a website but it will be in Korean because they're trying to attract Korean students. If your Korean skills are up to par you should search www.naver.com or www.daum.net. |

Good point, my Korean skills are definitely not THAT good...I just wish I could find something on it. But, I suppose even if I don't it doesn't mean something bad necessarily.. |

How do you get in contact with the person you're replacing and other teachers working there?
Do you ask the recruiter? Search it up yourselves? Ask the school/recruiter if you could talk to them? |

The recruiter gave me their e-mail. But, its weird, he said the name (the name of the contract) is Banana Kids, but I can't find a hagwon by that name anywhere...
But, people usually say that Park English is pretty good...so I guess I should just trust them? |

Hahah, this is a GREAT post.
I talked with a current teacher there and he fed my all of this BS (i.e. job is the easiest he's had, pay is always on time) and I lasted a month there when I was under pressure of being fired / pay was very late for the first month.
Talking with a teacher isn't the end all. Especially talking to the HEAD teacher there who's on the school's side, not yours. My best advice is talk to a teacher who USED to work there. They tend to keep it real. |

I found my hagwon through Charles Park at Park English. I would recommend him. He's really funny and easy to communicate with. |
