If I teach two classes at night, what should I request? at least 40,000?

Are you teaching additional classes at the same hakwon at which you are employed, or are you being loaned out to another place? I mean, are these OT classes at your school, or is this a side job?

For OT, 20k/hr is within the range of what I have heard to be common, and while lower than I would personally work for, it isn't necessarily insulting.

If it is a side job, I would say that 20k is too low, after you consider travel time.

I may also prioritize my free time differently than you, so what I find unacceptable may differ. I have had no debt to pay off for over a decade, but when I DID owe folks money, I took ALL the OT and side jobs I could find, regardless...if you need/want money, 20k/hr is a LOT more than 0k/hr for no OT....

Thanks you guys for your advice.

I have no idea what to expect tomorrow teaching adults. Will we have a book or do I have to come up with topics myself? The only thing I dread is it turning into an hour long monologue. Shocked

These days 20K per hour is pretty low - although I have seen ads with as little as 10K for overtime hours ...

Maybe you want to negotiate and get a 5000 meal bonus or a subway fare added on.

For first lessons with adults, just do getting-to-know-you questions/interviews. Get the students to ask questions about yourself, too. That can burn up about 45 mins, then you just need a 15 min filler activity on top. That way you can find out the level of these students, THEN decide on what book/lessons are necessary (if you have a choice).

I charge 2.5m per month for 1 job, 2 hours working plus travel, I spend an hour each way, walk + subway + walk + bus + walk, so 4 hours each day.
Basically just under 30k per hour, I did negotiate the rate taking into account half the time is spent listening to tunes.
Another job is 200k for 4 hours, the first pays for travel time and the second just pays.
No perks though, I have my own place so I take into account my expenses when taking a job.
Some jobs offer less because it's cash and there's lots of people that will take it but 40-50k seems to be the going rate, the people that take less (not ot) are probably doing it on the sly.
