Thanks for the info. I'll be bringing my KEB ATM card which has worked outside of Korea as well as an ATM card from home.

Another question: how common is it to pay for travel agents and accommodation by foreign credit card in Palawan and Cebu? I've done it before in Manila and maybe Boracay but not elsewhere in the Philippines.

Larger and more upscale places = yes (but you may also get hit with a surcharge of 3-10% for doing it). typically if you are paying over p2000 per night then yes, you can use plastic.

Travel agents WILL hit you with a surcharge for using plastic.

Smaller/cheaper places = NO.

Cebu is way more credit card friendly than Palawan but try to pay cash as much as you can. And yes, quite a few places in the Phils charge extra for credit card.

Thanks again! Here's another question. I'm bringing my iPhone with me so I'm wondering if you can get reception for KT over there for making occasional calls and getting messages from Korea. Or should I try my luck with putting in a SIM card into one of the old cell phones I have lying around for making calls? I'm a newbie with the whole SIM swap thing so how much should I expect to pay?

A sim will cost you about 50-100 pesos (depending on where you go and what the number is (lucky numbers or easy to remember usually cost more).

You can prepay in increments of p100, 300 or 500. For smaller or odd amounts to need to go to a place that advertises "e-loads". (they are EVERYWHERE).
