A bar is a place that sells alcohol. The attitude of staff is always drink up, pay and get out, although they don't always express it.

This is one country where you can drink anywhere. I rarely go to western themed bars here because I don't have to and they suck anyway. The best bet here is a chicken house or mini stop. I've met the hottest chicks there.

It is amusing to see the fake love bartenders give patrons, however it's sad to see people using alcohol to socialize.

Why drink water at the pub? I have drunk copious amounts of fluid at both places and the staff has never left me thirsty. Razz Shocked

Sure beats waiting for a drink at like at other places.

if only you could ever get service from the staff

apparently they don't like money?

That's odd. 3 Alley is historically notorious for the staff hounding patrons to buy a beer before they finish the one they're drinking. It's the fastest beer in Itaewon!

sam ryans, smart ass

No reason for name calling. Brier mentioned both of them and you never specified which one you were talking about. I've had pretty good service in Sam Ryan's, but I've only been a few times.

At the 3 Alley Pub I had a good time. The dude from New Zealand, Bernie, is cool as hell. They have good beer and a good atmosphere. Good food too, I at their shepherd's pie yesterday.

Rocky Mountain Tavern is okay. People are saying the owner's a douche, right? The guy from the Yukon? He seemed pretty cool to me.

At Polly's Kettle I drank a pitcher of some horrible mixed drink that made me lose my mind for the whole night.

Gecko's is okay.

I went to Foreign Restaurant with my wife. She got Tandori chicken and nan and I got the 6,000 lunch special.

My serving was decent and at least they gave jasmine rice. It was decent. My wife's chicken was good but the serving was too small. Also the nan wasn't very fresh.

We then ordered some samosas. They were the worst I have ever had. They are the same frozen ones you can buy in the food mart up the street. they were greasy and the insides were still cold.

I am not saying I will never go back, but I am certainly not in any rush.

I gotta say UN Club is probably the worst place in Itaewon, IMO. I was there with some friends last night and it was the first time I've ever seen a non-military strapped. The security guard walked up to the bar with a bullet proof vest and pistol.

Edit: I now remember I read somewhere those pistols are actually just guns filled with pepper spray. Can anyone verify this?

That place really went "down hill" it is in the basement near a corner right?

Towards the end of my 15 year sojurn in Korea I went there a half dozen times in two years. Usually with some Filipino friends, a few times alone.

I don't even remember having an issue getting in - I paid the cover, but seems like it was waived once or twice for whatever reason.

They are "packing" now?

What I could never understand was those who were on this "search" for good "western" food!

Maybe it was my lack of money due to family obligations ( my daughter is 14 now ) or possibly the mindset to just adapt.

Hi peps, I was wondering what places you hate the most in itaewon and the reasons behind your fire.

I personally think that Always Homme has to be the worst place on the planet. I didn't even know that it was a "special" bar, but after meeting the tools who work there I kinda figured it out. They not only overcharged my card (over 100,000 won) they also just wouldn't let me enjoy my date (girl). Rolling Eyes

I hate the place where all the prostitution is. I saw a pimp dragging a girl across the street. I hate it!

Had a great time just having a few beers in Itaewon early on a Wednesday while I was 'on vacation' believe it or not after working there over a period of 13 years.

What I want to know is; does anyone remember the guy pushing the woman into the cab after she called him an old man and her men stuck up for her?

Seems a black man ran after the old man after he witnessed him shove her ass in the cab, but couldn't catch him.

Just wondering.

Bernie works there? That guy is awesome. One of the nicest guys I ever met.

The owner Al is also really great. Older owner Gunther was kinda serious and a bit of a dick if you don't know him

All in all I always got great service there.

Sounds like 3 Alleys is a place where you have to know someone to be treated really well.

History is sad, isn't it?

Agreed. To each their own.

Maybe some members of this booard may not have ever been born if not for their parents and alcohol.
