You have to have a TEFL certificate to apply with EPIK now?

What kind of questions were you asked when you applied?

Does it matter who you do your TEFL certificate with? I have noticed I can get ILA Scotland to pay part of my TEFL on-line course if I do it with i-to-i or a few other British providers.

I missed out my contract addendum when I submitted my documents, it managed to fall behind my desk when I was putting everything in one envelope. Result - had to shell out another 50 to send four pieces of paper.

TEFL is only a requirement for SMOE - so if you don't want to work in Seoul you don't need TEFL.

sounds like everyone already has their papers in and gotten placements? I just found out i passed the interview, but I barely sent in my FBI background check. After reading online about the processing time for the background check and how all of you already have things done, im super anxious I wont get placed now. Sad Is anyone else in a similar boat? or am I the only one behind?

I'm sure alot of people are in the same boat as you. They are still filtering through applications before the deadline and scheduling interviews.

Had my EPIK interview today.

There have been tornado warnings, severe wind storms and (scary as all heck) dry lightning storms in my area over the past few days. It did not even occur to me that this might have weakened my internet connection (which at the best of times is stable but terribly slow) due to certain lines being down and others being re-routed due to damage. In any case Skype interview was a no-go so I had an hour long phone interview instead.

It seemed to go well after the initial apologies for mother nature. I got her to laugh a bit when I related how my punctuality has sometimes meant I'm stuck waiting outside a building because the doors are locked.

I have my police check, and will have my transcripts and copy of my diploma sometime around the 22nd of this month so all I'll need to do is drop by the Korean embassy hopefully and get certain documents notarized.

I'm in the same boat as many people here. I'm still waiting for my apostille to come back from DC (which is taking forever!). How long does it take everyone (in the US) to get their apostille for CRC back? Does anybody know if there's a deadline to turn in all the documents to EPIK? I'm just super worried that it's too late Sad

Thanks!

Had my interview today...
For the most part it went well, but I was asked some pretty weird questions. "What do you on the weekends?" I said that I like going out with my friends. Confused Confused "What will you do about a class with students of different English levels?" This stumped me and I had to think for a sec... They didn't like my answer. Only after the interview, I thought of a rational answer. On top of that, the interviewer's webcam wasn't working, so I had to stare at a blank screen the entire time...

Sigh.

I should update and say I passed the interview and have been assigned to Gangwondo education board. I just need to send in my documents and such and wait and see if everything checks out, then book my plane ticket.

Wow... Haha...
I made it! I can't believe it. I worried way too much. Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing
The results came in less than a day as well.
Now I just need to wait for my background check to come. Argh.

Would you share your idea? In my university we are taught to pair up the lower level student with the higher level students because they might be able to explain in a way that we as teachers can't.

I told my interviewer that I would do a little assessment on where everybody is standing, and come up with lesson plans that I think would benefit the majority of the students. I also mentioned that I would try to help the weaker students. She stopped me and asked me how I was going to personally assist those in a class of 30~40 students. I was stumped... Due to my nervousness, I didn't even think about pairing them up. I think for the most part, my answer was pretty good... but she just sounded a bit doubtful.

Hey guys, sorry if this is the wrong place to post. I've yet to send my docs to EPIK because of the uselessness of disclosure scotland and getting really stressed about not getting a place. Any advice on who to ship the docs with?

I was told to send them via DHL or one of the large reputable companies and to make sure you get a tracking number.

Wouldn't worry too much about it yet. I was only accepted last Friday and told them I wouldn't have my documents together for a week or two and they seemed fine with that.

I don't think the places are filled yet cos I received an e-mail yesterday from a different recruiter asking me to apply for SMOE as there were positions vacant. That allowed me to relax a little about it anyway.
