I think the show's getting better as it goes. Full disclosure- the creator/producer of the show is an old friend of mine, and used to direct videos for my band, as well as play drums in a "competing" band in the late 80s and early 90s. Half of the actors and crew are also from that same old Dartmouth/Cole Harbour circle of friends, and few of them (except "Mr. Lahey", John Dunsworth) have ever acted professionally before.

That's one reason why the show is improving - their acting and improvising is getting better through the experience of doing this national series, which is now in its 4th season.

It seems like less of a lark now than it was back when they made the pilot movie.
