I know that Gangnam police have set up cars with cameras on them to capture motorbike plates on the sidewalk.

I just saw a scooter plough through a pedestrian crossing on a red while a traffic policeman watched.

Korean police are startlingly ineffective, although they do enjoy making foreigners pay blood money to koreans.

That's true. Those three things will cover your ass.

I've never had a run in with a cop while driving in Korea. Once, a police car honked at me for not running a red at a quiet intersection late at night. I would have normally just slowed down and went through but I stopped because a police car was behind me. Rolling Eyes

A few months later I was in Japan and I got a ticket about three weeks after getting my car. I got the ticket because I didn't come to a full stop at a stop sign. I slowed down to about 1km/h and went through it and that didn't count as a full stop. Talk about different worlds!

What are the "rules of the road" regarding the sidewalks in Korea? Do motorcycles and scooters have the right of way? I have become a bit paranoid when I walk on the sidewalks. It seems they come from any and all directions. I saw one kid and his mom almost get hit the other day.

Thanks

And I find it kind of funny, I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you, I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very, very
Mad world, mad world

One time I rode my bicycle across the crosswalk and it was legal for me to do at an intersection. Bus driver zoomed up and almost hit me. I made eye contact with him, pointed at the crosswalk, and my green light signal to cross. Then I biked away. I turned around maybe 30 seconds later and he had his head out the window yelling at me. I screamed back in English to shut the f up and quit driving like an idiot! He muttered some more Korean and drove away. He couldn't understand what I was saying in English but he knew I was yelling back and my body language conveyed a shove it up your a attitude!

I once had a grandmother in Incheon jack my bags at a bus stop and run away. I found her, grabbed my bags, and almost punched her in the face.

She cursed me out for making her miss the "getaway" bus.

Korean old people are ghetto.

Birds of a feather flock together. the Korean so called law makers like passing laws that protect criminals (wonder why?). Passed a law a few years ago that protects busdrivers. Slug one for whatever reason and you can get 5 years.

As for the due who got hit by a scooter and paid 50,000 won. You should have demanded 2,000,000 won. Its a 5,000,000 won. Cheaper to pay 2,000,000 won. Another case of a Korean outsmarting the Whitey.
