right plenty of older people going clubbing back home.
movie stars, entertainment people in the 50's 60's get into clubs, VIP treatment the whole deal. never to old to club, maybe just to old if the bouncer thinks you are just some old dude who looks creepy or a group of ajossis who are gonna get drunk and start to sleeze on young girls.

I'm sure the bar owner is over 40. and all his friends too.

still it's all image based .. they turn away fat girls, they turn away blacks, they turn away young kids who don't fit the image they are after etc etc etc
hot girls get in no problem..
if I was the owner I would let most people in. as it's a service industry and not a private party.
you don't see department stores turning people away do you?
stupid how clubs have become this elite stomping ground for the selected few to act cool blar blar.. think they are famous and chic and in the know.
too bad they all don't know that they are not in on the joke. They are the joke! CHA CHING!

Admittedly not in Korea, but I can think of a few department stores that turn away customers.

Hey SeoulSucker....do you know how I can get on a guestlist to any Gangnam clubs...I went to Heaven last weekend and would like to check out one of the other clubs there next weekend if possible. Thanks for any advice (sorry I can't PM yet).

I think in terms of places like Club Volume it all depends on the night or event. They seem to change nightly.

For e.g. tonight Gareth Emery is spinning there. My kind of music. I'd dearly love to go, but I'm dead tired on Fridays and it's a long ass haul out to Seoul (and back)

so look on their website for upcoming events and choose the ones that look/sound appealing to you.

Unless you know managers/promoters personally, it can be tricky to get comped. However, a lot of the big clubs have a "free before 11" policy if you register beforehand. Check out their websites/facebook pages for contact info.

Is there a particular club you want to check out? There are several in Gangnam.

expletive , sorry I missed it.

but there'll be others. If/when you hear of others playing similar music coming to town, give me a heads up.

how was the club? cool? how crowded? I notice the koreans tend to overpack the clubs and as a result you literally cannot move around much less breathe and or dance much, you just stand and bob in a pool of sweat. (example b1 last weekend)

btw I assume the entrance fee was elevated for a special guest DJ like Emery. What was the damage and how much are drinks inside?

Hey SeoulSucker...well I already went to Heaven so want to try somewhere different...think Ellui or Eden probably, but if anyone has any connections anywhere that can get me a comp in gangnam I'll settle for that haha.

Ya I saw Volume had a free entry for foreigners this Thursday so I'll probably check that out.

Also I'm staying at Grand Intercontinental this weekend...how far is that from all these clubs?? Walking distance?
