Rainy season is coming. I read that zinc helps. My Pharmacies thought zinc tablets or syrup was some voodoo stuff. Anybody know where you can get some in Korea?

Considering that zinc is pretty much inert (my daughter ate a full tube of zinc diaper cream and the poison control center said, "Don't worry about it" I would tend to agree with the pharmacist.

You can buy it in large chunks (500g-40kg) at any marine store along the coast.

Don't know where to get it. Sorry.

But, I think the best solution is not to get a colds or flu to begin with. Not meaning to be a wise guy, but I did find out that there is a very important nutrient that up-regulates around 3,000 of a human's genes. That's about 10% of them. And if you are deficient or insufficient in it, this has a big effect on your immune system and your natural ability to resist flu, colds, and infections. Due to changes in modern day living patterns, most people are either deficient or insufficient in this nutrient.

Once I found out about it, I had mine tested and sure enough, like most people, I was in the insufficient range ( 11.5 ng/ml). That was last fall. I immediately began taking this supplement to boost my level. It worked great. I quickly got my level up to 32.5 ng/ml in the sufficiency range. I didn't get a flu shot either. I just took the supplement and I never got the flu or colds or infections all winter even though I was teaching elementary students and was certainly surrounded by people who were getting those things.

Here's an authority on the subject who can tell you a lot more.

And, if you want to order some, there's an excellent website called iHerb.com where you can order it and get it quickly (and cheaply) delivered to Korea. You can even get a $5 discount on your 1st purchase if you use this discount code: COC920

Good luck with avoiding those colds and infections.

Zinc is not inert. When you take Zinc tablets only take one unless you want to vomit like a ****** ******. Also if you ever weld Zinc metal make sure you wear a respirator unless you want to get sick as a dog.

Dr. Mercola is a well known "AIDs denialist, anti-vaccine, anti-meds, anti-microwave, anti-suncreen" spammer.

From wiki;
Quote:

Mercola has been the subject of much criticism from the business and medical community. A 2006 BusinessWeek editorial criticized Mercola's marketing practices as "relying on slick promotion, clever use of information, and scare tactics."[4] Mercola has also received three warning letters from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for violations of U.S. marketing laws. The first two letters, dated 2005 and 2006,[5][6] charged Mercola with making false and misleading claims regarding the marketing of several pharmaceutical products, which violated the Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act.[7] In the most recent letter, sent in March 2011,[8] Mercola was again found to be violating federal law, by making claims about the efficacy of certain uses of a telethermographic camera exceeding those approved by the FDA concerning the diagnostic and therapeutic potential of the device [regulation of such claims being within the purview of the FDA]. Dr. Mercola has challenged the FDA's order. He is also listed on the medical watchdog site Quackwatch.[7]

Get your flu vaccine(November-December), eat well, exercise, avoid snotty kids, wash your hands.

Evidence that zinc fights colds was in the news earlier this year.

Dont know about local availability. Ask a pharmacist.

Actually zinc reacts heavily with calcium. If you're taking zinc for it's immune system properties, take it before bed on an empty stomache. If you eat anything with any form of calcium your body uptakes the calcium instead of the zinc. That's why so many studies about zinc's effectiveness are bogus...most of the zinc capsules had some form of calcium in them.

Heh. I've just started taking ZMA, a zinc/magnesium testosterone enhancer. I definitely have some extra pep in my step.
