I know you can get Cubans in Itaewon at a convenience store near exit 3 for 20K, but I'm not willing to pay more than 10. Also wondering if it's possible to get pipes (the old man kind, not the weed smoking kind) and tobacco anywhere.

Well, I have seen pipes and tobacco in Hamilton Hotel's shopping area in Itaewon, next to the escalator on one of the floors. They sell pipes, I believe (Western style). I saw Captain Black for sale there, although I thought it and the other tobbaco was grossly overpriced.

I know I saw some small western-style pipes for sale at the Seoul Folk Flea Market, between Sinseoldong station and the E-mart on the other side of Chungyechon. If you've never been to this thing, it's a must-see, IMHO:

Do a quick search on here. Myself and a few others have posted a few links on where to buy Cuban cigars from and have them shipped to you here in Korea.

I have had good success with doing this many times. If you can't find the old posts, let me know, I'll do a search when I have more time.

I have ordered from quite a few depending on who has them on sale. topcubans and puroexpress are both good.

You mights find them cheaper, but remember, Cuban cigars are never cheap. If you find a stick for less than $10 (not a cigarillo or seconds) then it is probably not authentic.

I have an Elie Bleu 50 stick humidor if you're looking for top-of-the-line storage. I've never seen them for sale in Korea (although some of the 5-star hotel tobacconists may have them).

Do some research and make me an offer. I have a 500 stick Elie Bleu, so the smaller one is just being used for minor storage and decoration. Bummer. Wouldn't mind seeing it go to someone who would appreciate it.

And, hell, I'll even throw in a Cuban!

Here's a website. Think my 50 stick is a walnut burl. Have the hygrometer and humidification element, too (that's about 150 right there!).

If you want to order cheaper cigars--honduran, dominican, etc..., try www.cubancrafters.com. Some bundles of 25 start at $30 and up. Shipping is extra, however. About $40 an order.

I'm by no means a cigar aficionado, I just wanted to get a Cuban just so I could say I have. I don't think I'd ever buy them online. The flea market is pretty close to me, I'm going to try and check it out soon. I checked out the place in the Hamilton Hotel on 2F next to the escalator, their prices on pipes were outrageous, but they had Cubans for as low as 12K, which is about as much as I was willing to pay for them. Once again, thanks for the info Very Happy

When I was living in NYC I met a guy who flew to Cuba every three months to purchase Cuban cigars. According to him, if you want to buy a REAL Cuban cigar, the only way to insure its authenticity is to purchase it directly from the factory. He told me that "Cuban cigars" are often counterfeits...even in Cuba. His advice to me was to buy a good Dominican cigar....unless you're 100% certain that you're getting what you're paying for.

If you are looking for great looking pipes and pipe tobacco take a look at this shop in Seoul:

http://www.lightertime.co.kr/

I've been here for more 7 years and I found this place just a month ago, they sell mainly lighters, but there're plenty of pipes and a no modest selection of pipe tobacco tins.

For pipes, hit up EBay.

Having been to both Cuba and the importer's shop that handles our orders, I'm on the positive side that we're getting the real deal.

I always stock up on NON-Cubans when I'm back in N. America, though. Amazing that you really can't get any decent Hondurans or Dominicans here. Ghurka, Olivia, Don Pepin Garcia, Ashton, Fuente...so many fantastic non-Cubans out there.

They do carry some non-cubans at the shop at the JW Marriott, Central City, including Gurkhas and Rocky Patel. Prices a bit high as you would expect.

If you need pipe tobacco, you can order from

http://www.4noggins.com/

They ship to Korea.

If you want cigars, try the ShiSha House in Daejeon. A French guy imports Cubans and maintains a cigar shop. Also, Dominicans, I believe. It's in between Chungnam Univ. and KAIST.
