Anyone tried making their own, with ingredients easy to find in korea? I've glanced at a few tutorials online about how to make it, but a lot of them require essential oils and other things not easily found here. Anyway, i had this idea of making a green tea based deodorant -- any suggestions? |

I also have bad luck with deodorants/antipersperants. I sweat a lot, but I almost prefer au natural to the deodorant smell. I guess I could try a non-disgusting natural deodorant and wear gauzy shirts which don't show the sweat. |

well, it's not that i wasn't having luck with normal deodorants... just that i'm trying to avoid aluminum containing anti perspirants (which have been linked to alzheimers, cancer, etc) and i thought it'd be interesting to try to make my own. FWIW, I think i sweat a normal amount. |

Try powdering under your arms with baking soda after a shower. Works great. Can even mix it with corn starch and some fragrance if you'd like. Cancels out the odor. |

Call me uncivilised, but would rubbing a bar of soap into your pits work? I've still got a decent supply of deodourant so haven't tried it yet |

So. Do your research on it. If you like it, you like it, if you don't, you don't. It's just mineral salt, so I thought it would be right up your alley. |

I have no problem with you trying to make your own deodorant, but this is just plain stupid. Please dont spread this kind of ill-informed misinformation around. |

I like an organic, aluminum free deodorant that has only recently been added to the list of products at iherb.com. It's by Herban Cowboy. I use the scent called Dusk, which is fairly unisex, though it's marketed towards men.
Here's a link:

There are a few other scents, but this was the original and I like it. We did a write up on their products in my old magazine, and I fell in love with the stuff. They seem to be doing pretty well, because they used to be hard to find and now even Vitamin Shoppe carries them. |

i'm not sure how my statement made me ill-informed.. Aluminum in deodorant hasn't been conclusively proven to do any of the things i said, i just said it's been linked. |

I started using the "Now Solutions" long-lasting deodorant cream I got on iherb,it's amazing. my pits don't smell, not once since I started using it, even if it's been awhile between showers. It's not the best smell at first when it goes on, but after 20 minutes it goes away. It has no aluminum. |

First of all, aluminum isn't in deodorant, it's in antiperspirant. So right there you can see that even the people running that website don't actualy care about facts, they are just pushing a product.
Secondly, you can "link" any two things together as you please. However, without evidence to back it up, it's useless. Even the American Cancer Society has said that there is no risk to using aluminum-containing antiperspirants.
So, have at t with home-made deodorants. Sounds like a fun experiment. Just don't perpetuate some scare tactic used to push ther product. |
