I have to get my Korean criminal record check translated and apostilled to work in another country. I had the check done at the police station in Yongsan last week. The document is in Korean, but all of the staff I dealt with spoke English.

Have a Korean check online for you. There are a number of companies that provide official translation (and apostille if necessary) service because lots of Koreans study/work abroad.

I was told that it would cost around 80 000 won for the translation and apostille, and that it would take 3-4 business days.

I don't kow how much it would cost to only have the translation done.

I was told that there are lots of translating services near the US embassy. Maybe calling your embassy and asking if there are services around them might work.

When I was in Australia, I had to get my Korean police check translated by a professional translator in order to get my teaching licence. I just found one online in Brisbane, e-mailed her a picture of the document and she mailed me the translation. Cost about $40.

When I got back to Canada I applied for another check through the Korean embassy. You mail the application to the National Police Service in Seoul. They mailed it back to me in both English and Korean. So I would try to get one of those.

I too need a police check done in Korea (and Japan-boo!) to teach in New Zealand next year.

Can anyone tell me the best way to get my check done here in Korea? Thanks for the advice. Smile

-EDIT I see the above poster contacted the National Police Service in Seoul. I'll try that.

You can get a regular one in Korean from any police station in Korea.

I also got one from the National Police Service THROUGH THE EMBASSY IN OTTAWA....and it was in English and Korean, so I'm not sure if you'll get it in English from within Korea. I'm sure you can follow the same procedure through an embassy in New Zealand.

Here's the link to the embassy website in Ottawa which outlines the procedure:
