any 'hardware' store or large shopping complex should sell universal remotes.
There should be a few different 'hardware' stores setup near your building. They sell stuff like water fixtures, cleaning supplies, paint and the like. |

That happened me too. When I told them it turns out it was in the press above my cooker. You won't survive without it. Ask them. |

Most (not all) of the wall a/c in Korea have a little hidden button that allows you to turn them on manually. You can't adjust the temperature or fan settings, but it can be helpful in a pinch.
Lift up the outer cover of the a/c and look down on the lower right hand side. You may have to feel around as it may not be visually apparent. |

Care to link a pic or at least specify the model number and manufacturer of your AC unit when asking this sort of question?
How would anyone else know which manufacturer it was made by or what sort of signal algorithm it is using? |

I had the same problem and a Korean friend helped me with it. We bought a cheap remote for 4,000 won at a hardware store and it worked just fine. What brand is it? If it is LG there are many LG stores that sell LG products and replacement parts like remotes. |

I've moved into a couple apartments that were missing the AC remote. In one of them, the AC came with the apartment. I asked the landlady about it. It turned out that she kept all of the remotes in the office and distributed them to residents when they asked. In the other apartment, the school put in the AC, so I asked them about it, and they found a dusty old remote in a box somewhere. I don't know if it was the original remote or not, but it worked. It seems like schools always have that kind of stuff floating around. Try talking to a coworker. Even if they can't find "your" remote, they can probably help you to find/purchase one that will work. |

My coworker lives in the same building and his was stuck to the wall under the AC unit. I moved in in the winter and forgot about it. Now im getting western sun late into the evening and living with mosquitoes because I need to keep my window open to get a breeze. Im not sure of the model and brand off the top of my head, nothing famous. I looked around pretty carefully and haven't been able to find any buttons on the unit at all. ill probably try to get a universal remote this weekend. |

It's like when girls tell you their problems. They don't want you to solve them, just listen.

More like I posted this at work and I dont know the name and model number off the top of my head. Ive never owned a Korean AC, I guess i should have asked if they have universal remotes.
I dont get your second part, the building management doesnt seem very organized or eager to help even the Koreans that live there. Im just assuming they wont care im sweating my ass off. |

Your AC unit was left by a previous owner, I am assuming.
Very few places, except officetels and new apartments, have AC as standard.
A previous tenant probably had it and it wasn't worth moving so they left it.
Our second apt was a little older, but had AC. I never thought of a universal remote so went to the company website and ordered one for 30,000원.
I guess it's not part of the building maintenance so these guys don't really care. |

Its an officetel, but its kind of run down. Half the elevators have been out of service for the last 6 months |
