My fiance and I want to get married before I have to leave at the end of this month. I am American and my fiance is from Cameroon. The requirements on my end are pretty straightforward but when my fiance called his consulate, no one knew what paperwork he has to have. If he can get the right paperwork, his consulate will notarize it, but they can't tell him what he has to have. The American Embassy won't help me with this and when I called the ward office and asked if there is anyone there who speaks English, I was connected to a fax machine. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Just have him make more than one trip. Have him go ASAP so that he can find out what is required. Yes, it's a pain, but you've got a better chance of getting things done.

Cameroon has no embassy or consulate in Korea.

The nearest ones are in China or Tokyo.

I highly doubt they'd know anything about what's needed for marriage in Korea.

Good luck.

Why exactly is this funny?

Cameroon does have a consulate in Seoul but not an embassy. And no, they don't seem to be very much help.

There are many people from Cameroon in Korea. A lot of them are students. My fiance is working on his Ph.D.

Any information, other than snide comments and making fun, would be great.

Sorry, Pangaea, was just messing around. What's he studying?

Anyway, do you really have to leave at the end of this month? Dunno if you can take care of this by the end of the month.

Maybe getting married in Vegas would be the best idea. Quick & easy.

Good luck and take your time!

FYI if you want to bring him to the US and you want to get him a greencard look into a fiance visa and dont get married first it is a lot faster sometimes. In some cases 9 months vs the 2+ years it can take if you are married first.

I was looking and couldn't find a website for one here. Figured I'd take a look - frequently when I can't find an answer, it was staring me right in the face. You have a website address for the consulate here?

That comment is not respectful of the OP and generalizes Cameroonians while many from that Francophone/Anglophone country do come here to study. I one taught a Cameroonian, and he was one of my best students, and he was extremely polite. He is studying to be a lawyer. The Cameroon has also had good football/soccer teams. And, our ancestors, also sought a U.S. passport. If he is seeking both love and that document at the same time it is not nefarious just as some women from the Philippines marry foreign men partially because of their nationality, but we don't question them. Evil or Very Mad Exclamation (Follow the Terms of Service.) Don't slander some Cameroonian you don't know.

Nathan, good attitude.
