My school has three black teachers right now.
Some schools are more racially tolerant than others.

Do they ever talk about how their experiences are out in the community?

| I know that when they started, a few of the kids would openly ask about their skin color. Soon enough, the kids were acclimated to having someone with dark skin around, and they stopped asking questions. I'm not really sure about their experiences in the adult community outside of school. I would imagine they get some stares, considering I'm white and I get stared at occasionally. But I also have a pretty sweet beard, and that blows their minds. |

Thanks. I can imagine that in a rural area where People of Color are very rare it must be a bit of treat to be noticed like that. Rather much like being the first person to introduce your culture to a foreign country. Something like that.
