hi
the interview went fairly well but they asked some unexpected questions, especially asking me what I knew about the school.
I did say some stuff about the uni's history and reputation, but I wasn't totally prepared for that one, so I could have definitely done better.
If anyone else has a uni interview, I'd say prepare something in case that kind of question comes up!!
I might still have made it, I'll find out later this week. |

I just had one too and they asked me about the school. I miffed a specific question from the president pretty hard. |

| Asking an applicant about the school is pretty typical. It's a way to see if you took the time to read up on the school. |

I'd be curious to know what sorts of questions they might have asked about your teaching methodology, management skills and curriculum enhancement. Thoughts?
Best Wishes,

Bruce,
the one I had didn't ask me anything about that!
I had prepared for those kind of questions, but they asked some pretty off-the-wall stuff instead.
really hard to gauge what they made of me. Strange (and very short) interview. |

Same thing here, but I got the job. I guess they just wanted to see our responses and reactions to judge if we would fit in with the staff. |

| Off the wall questions? Sounds interesting. What did they ask? |

Anyang University.
one of the interviewers saw on my resume that I play music in my spare time, and asked me if and how I incorporate my musical hobby into my teaching. I did answer but I didn't totally see the relevance.
Another guy said "Imagine you just left a class and you are smiling and happy. What kind of class would have made you happy?"
that question made more sense, but the way it was phrased caught me out a bit.
Don't think I got the job (haven't heard anything yet though), but I guess it's all good practice. Got another one elsewhere coming soon, so I hope I get a result eventually. |

These questions sound pretty routine and would just aim to evaluated how flexible you are in your responses. The happy class question is pretty well done as it asks you to describe what you consider to be a good lesson-class without asking the more traditional: describe your classroom methods.
Good luck! |

yeah I live and learn!
my next interview has a demo class involved. I actually think that will help me do better and show off my skills.
I can see the rationale for the 'indirect question method' at interviews but I'm just not used to it yet. |

Maybe he didn't see the relevance of including your musical hobby on your CV and was pointing it out in an indirect way.
If you put on your CV for a teaching job, then the question is fair game IMHO. |

| Maybe he was checking he wasn't going to do the cliched bearded TEFL teacher thing and bring his guitar into the class room. |
