I decided I'm staying in Korea for another year after my contract's up, so I want to ditch my prepaid phone and go with a contract. So, if you're leaving the country and want to get rid of your smartphone I'll gladly take over your remaining contract, as long as it's got less than 14 months on it.

PM me or reply here with your e-mail.

Cheers.

edit: I'll pay for any transfer fees involved.

How does "taking over" a contract work?

I have a Galaxy from KT that I may be willing to let some one take over....

1) Do you become the new owner of the contract?
2) Can I keep my number?

hey method,

he would become the new owner of the contract. sign a few papers, transfer bank information and arc information and you have no ties to it anymore.

this also means you cannot keep the number. good thing is that most places will try their very best to find you a new number similar to your old one if you are simply trying to find someone to take over your contract to get a better phone.

note: at least in the case of lg they require transferer and transferee to have the same type of visa. might be the same for kt and sk, i'm not sure.

it would stay the same.

everything stays the same, the payments, the amount of time left on the account, the phone, etc. the only thing that changes is the bank info, arc info, and owner of the account.

Not sure if it's true as I have yet to transfer a contract, but apparently the person taking over the contract has the option of changing the plan that the phone is under. Will let you know if that's the case once I go to the global KT store.

It's a Nokia 5800. Beautiful smart phone and the best price ever. It is 85000 the price is double in America. I checked it out tonight I would have bought it. But I already have one smartphone for Korea. I wanted one for overseas use. But it is a wonderful phone and smooth performance.

Thanks quite helpful... the number thing bothers me a bit, though. Have many business contacts, plus don't want new person to be associated with my Kakao account... hmmm....

kakaotalk isn't an issue. just go to your current settings and deactivate your account and reactivate it with the new number. had my full friends list back in no time when i did it.

I have a Galaxy S, (not S2) that has been fine for me, but unfortunately I'm leaving August 3rd to go back to Canada and have about a year left on the contract. I'd rather not have to pay penalty fee to get out of it early. I'm currently on the 65 000 won unlimited data plan and with the phone fee, etc. it comes out to 80-84000 won a month. Let me know if you're interested.
