So, after jumping through all the hoops to get my FBI check and get it apostilled so I could change jobs last year and talking to others who are in the same boat now, I had an odd thought.

Some of the problem seems to be not only waiting the possible 12 weeks to get your CBC back from the FBI but also the additional 4 or more weeks to get it apostilled. I know that some SoS offices will apostille the background check, but most wont.

Anyway, what if (when you got the CBC back) you made a copy of it, got that notarized and then got the apostille on that...

There would be no problem getting it done, and as far as I can tell, kimmi would accept it since it is an apostille.

Any thoughts?

You can't copy it. It has the color shift/invisible ink on it that shows up very clearly when you copy it. It says "Unauthorized Copy" all over it. I highly doubt you'd get an apostille for that, and even if you did, I'm sure the immigration people would figure it out.

I appreciate you posting the thought though. I am sure we all have ideas and so it is nice to bounce them off people to see if they have any say. Problem is many click on the ideas but don't offer any advice--except for ^this guy.
