I read the first book and never read further. Haven't even considered watching the show. I'm an ardent fan of sci-fi and fantasy (more the former) too. Dunno why Martin just doesn't do it for me.

I have a read a ton of Sci Fi and Fantasy. It's to the point with most books within a the first 50-100 pages I can predict where its all going with fair certainty. Most characters fit into the same archetypes over and over. Martin does a pretty good job of avoiding that for the most part (Jon Snow not withstanding). Keeps me guessing which is good.

After having read the fourth book I'm fairly certain that I know exactly how it's going to conclude. Through the third book things stay unpredictable, but if you put some things together I think the path is fairly easy to determine.

Just started watching this. Good show. Not sure if I like enough it to read several volumes of fantasy books, though. Not really my genre.

I have been watching this show since the beginning and the finale was good too. I read some where that producers of the show will put out a new season within a year or less.
