|
|
I'm at a public school.
I have about three weeks left on my contract. Just seems like I should be given some forms to sign to start processing the severance. (I know they have, what, 14 days after my contract to pay it, but just thought it takes a while to process.)
End of my first year, I think I signed the paperwork about a week or so before the contract completed, but I was renewing my contract and I trusted that administration.
This time, I am not renewing and (if youve read another thread of mine, you know already) this administration tried to jack my paid leave last winter, so I dont quite trust them.
My handler keeps asking me to provide my plane ticket so he can process reimbursement for that. I keep telling him that its not certain that Ill leaving Korea within 10 days of completing my contract. I remind him that the severance (and pension, if I dont end up staying) paperwork is more a priority. So far, no paperwork.
Anyway, still about three weeks left, but just wondering when Im supposed to sign the paperwork.
Thanks. |

Well, either you will leave Korea or you won't. That's why the school wants to see your plane ticket before they process severance. If you go to another school, then you don't usually collect severance. Basically, they are asking and waiting for you to make a decision.
Do you want to stay or go? |

I don't have to leave Korea for severance. Just have to complete the contract. |

sorry, I misread. I'll leave the post so people understand the confusion.
What I was trying to get at was the school might want to know about flight and severance together. My school paid both together. So, even though you are entitled to severance, they want to know how to pay you it probably. |

make a list of what you're expected to get before ETS and present it to your assistant and discuss about it.
most importantly, make sure your assistant provides you with when and how your money will be paid. |

I see. Well, the reason its up in the air is because if I can get my CBC here in time, I may try to change schools before my ARC expires. If not then Ill go home and either apply to work in the fall (for GEPIK), or try out China.
I know I shouldnt have left it for the last minute, but there are a number of factors that have been making my decision to stay in Korea a difficult one.
Anyway, thank you for giving me that to consider. |
