Perhaps we can make this a sticky, as it seems to come up every few months, but I think it'd be cool for a collection of the most current torrent websites.

Which ones do you suggest?

Public Tracker - Nothing beats the Pirate Bay. I use it to find odd and obscure stuff that doesn't even make it the private trackers I use.

http://thepiratebay.org/browse

Private Trackers - Depends on what I'm looking for. I have 3 different ones I use regularly.

I get everything I need off of BTJunkie, Demonoid & Isohunt. Pirate Bay for obscure stuff I can't find.

thebox.bz is good for UK programming.

Footy fans might love FBTZ.com for all their needs, includes season and round review shows, variety programs and of course archived and recently aired matches.

Usually Isohunt/PB will find something very, very obscure that my private trackers can't find.

I've got 2 general private trackers, 2 for games, 2 for music, 2 for textbooks, 2 Korean trackers Laughing

Can never have too many. Razz

Recent TV shows I go eztv.it (public)
h33t.org is okay for getting the Chronological Marvel comics and some other stuff like movies. But not the best.
Old and obscure TV Shows - TV-vault.me (private)

But I usually check with demonoid or piratebay first before heading to my private trackers for other stuff.

For recent comics, magazines and ebooks. I go with avaxhome.ws. They have movies and mp3s too. BUT it is not a torrent site but a direct download place with links to megafire or rapidshare. My recommendation is buy a premium membership to filesonic (9.00 bucks a month and even better deals the more time you sign up).

xtremespeeds.net - I think it's great for HD shows and new release movies. The HD shows get uploaded usually within a few hours of the premiere. Most if not all movies are uploaded a day or two before or on the day of release. Lots of other stuff too, but I use it mainly for HD.

Just a friendly heads-up about filesonic: they set up automatic payments without my consent and double charged me for about half a year. Since I'm out of the country I never use paypal nor my cc from home, so I never knew about these charges until my secondary debit account back home got overdrawn due to filesonic's charges.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I opened a case with Paypal, half of them (the double charges) got automatically resolved in my favor (i.e., there was a precedent of filesonic being shady), but I'm still waiting on the other half. Anyway just double check what they charge you for.

best search engine out there is far and away:

torrentz.eu

It will search all of the big and small name public trackers in one go and has a rating system setup that is reliable.

torrentbytes is my favorite private tracker for HD stuff.

Yea you have to be careful with that! Many subscription services like to to do the automatic renewal and filesonic did not give any warning or heads up when your order. I was lucky I ordered a month and when it renewed it was a minor surprise. I would be peeved if I had got a six month subscription and bang every six months I get charged.

Genuinely curious, not trolling. What would be the advantage of this vs. a private tracker? Speed? Content? I can't imagine what would make it worth it.

I love torrents - normal I use them but sometimes they are not good enough.

The avax place is good for ebooks and comics. Now if I am not a premium member I have to wait and find the right links and enter captachas to get my stuff - which can be time consuming when you have a few comics or books you want to check out. Since the premium all I do is click and download. Since they are usually small size they download quickly.

Plus with some direct download sites - I get the file I want with out having to dig one file out from a larger torrent like with comics. Even at times the comics/books/shows are up before they are even posted on a torrent site.

I do download bigger stuff like movies and TV shows at times from avax and another site and using direct download can be slow but at times it can be quite speedy. Even downloading something like training videos will be faster then torrents as I do not have to wait for that 1 person who is the only seeder.

Thru with direct downloading some files and links will disappear after a month or two.

So in the end - I save time and hassles and some files are easier to find.

In the states I'd imagine those pay services are better b/c you don't have to upload or seed. In Korea, where that doesn't really matter, I see no advantage unless you're in the above poster's case and looking for certain comics, etc.

www.torrent-invites.com is a great site to get started with private trackers.
