New to the forum and the prospect of teaching in Korea. After reading some threads I am wondering if there is a bias against older male teachers by Korean schools. Is this occupation for the young or are some of these posts just old? Also can anyone recommend areas in south Korea that a 40 yr old would like to teach. Thanks for any thoughts

Try the job discussion forum or the General discussion forum.

There is a bias, but then again if all they want is a young white face,

do you really want to work for them?

There is a bias but 40 is fine, especially for a ps position.

Many hagwans want bright, young faces.

Public schools also hire outside of the regular EPIK intakes in Feb/August. Teachers do occassionally run away/resign so there are vacancies throughout the year. Look at the jobs board here for examples. You would then be applying to the various MOEs or the school itself(usually through a recruiter) rather than going through EPIK/GEPIK.
