My husband and I will be renting a car in the States for 2 weeks. The rental car place charges $11 a day for GPS!!!
We have a GPS here in Korea. Will it work in the US if we bring it with us? My thinking is "yes" but not sure if they're "set" for certain countries.
Thoughts? |

The short answer (and the one that's relevant for your purposes) is no. Your GPS will not "work" in the US.
The longer answer is, yes it will "work" in the strict sense of the word. By that, I mean your GPS will probably be able to lock on to satellites and determine your global position. However, for 99.9999% of people, that information is useless without the underlying map data. So, you cannot input a US address as a destination and it will not navigate you anywhere since it has no road data to work with.
The next question you might ask is... is it possible to install US maps on my Korean GPS device? I have no idea personally. But if you are able to do so, then the short answer to your question becomes yes. |
