If more English teachers start using e-readers will there be a decrease in the stereotypical backpacks being toted around? One can only hope.
Where will we keep our forks?

Sorry. I suppose I assumed the sloppy, baggy pants would remain. Surely there's enough room in those cargo pants to hide a fork.
Personally I always keep mine tucked into my boot. I use a backpack to transport my bong and collection of kiddie porn.

I know the Kindle is more widely publicized, but I personally think the nook is better.

I actually bought myself a Nook Color for Christmas.

I agree. Nook Colour, droid it, run it like an iPad or whatever we're calling that genre of tech.

Look up Nook Colour Android Hack on Google. WSJ article.

I have the Basic Kindle Wi-fi and it suits my purposes.
I don't know. It seems they are always putting out a new one. Really think about your needs.

In any case, I really love my Kindle. There are a plethora of free classic books available legally, too.

I bought a basic Kindle a couple months ago, and super happy with it! $139 it was shipped to Canada (on a trip home from Busan), so about $180 with the import tax, delivered in 2 days. Downloaded over 2000 books, gonna keep me reading for years and years. I use it for reading everything except cookbooks, my kitchen skills would ruin it in a heartbeat. If it is difficult to find english books where you live, or if you read tons of journal articles and your computer hurts your eyes, buy one! (easy to make notes and reminders on pdfs too) fyi: I was going to buy one of the book covers for it, but after I started using it I realized a easel type stand is better for hands free reading. Happy reading!

OK, OK, I'm getting a Kindle. So the question is: regular wi-fi or 3G? Amazon says with the 3G you can download on the go overseas. I'm guessing with just wi-fi you have to sideload.

Thoughts?

I bought the 3g version and never use the 3g option. I just ordered my husband one, so opted for the wifi model, as we have a wireless router set up, and we torrent books and load them with the wire or order from amazon on our computers and have them sent to our kindles wirelessly. I'm sure I'd like the 3g feature if I were traveling without my computer, but I could always download a bunch of books before a trip.

I say it depends if you will be traveling without your computer. I say save the $50.
