A hagwan is wanting to hire me, but doesn't know how to go about getting me an E-2 visa. Does anyone know what hagwans do on their end? |

They go to immigration and ask. It's not the teacher's responsibility to educate the hagwon how to employ teachers in their country. They will also get the answers quicker than asking foreign teachers to guess what the latest rules are for hagwons. It's hard enough to keep up with the teacher's requirements. |

I would be very hesitant to work for a business that hasn't done its research. This is something they should have figured out in their business model. Many more holes can be expected in the future. |

Does she have to go to immigration in Seoul? The school is in a small town and she said she's having a hard time getting the visa stuff together. She brought up the idea of us getting married to make it easier to get a visa, but I told her I'd try to find out how to do the E-2. |

I'm asking what hagwans have to do on their end for a foreign English teacher to get an E-2. |

She and her sister have been running a school out of an apartment and she wants me to work there. I don't know how common that is in Korea or even how legal it is. I'm skeptical about how much revenue they're making and would be able to pay me, but I do know the lodging would be free since I would be living at their place. It's a girl I've known for a few years and I like her and want her to have success with her business. I wish I could work there as a second job, but I know that would violate an E visa. But if she can get me an E visa, I'll work for her. |

Why would you do this to yourself...? Do you have a bad rap sheet or something? |

I think this is illegal. A hogwan has to register with the Board of Education. An inspector is sent to see if the school has the required square footage and amounts of classrooms, etc. I don't think this "school" is legit. |

If you get married you can get an F2 spousal visa. Then you can work at her hagwon and make it successful.
Do it man. Then post here about it. |

If I had a rap sheet, I wouldn't be asking about an E-2 would I? I do ask myself your first question, though. |

Thanks. This is what I've been wondering about and your reply sort of confirms what I've been suspecting. |

I'm not going to marry her since she wants kids. If I work there, I guess I'll do it part-time if I can fit it around another job and I'll let everyone know how it went. I'm sure I'll have some stories to tell. |

Huge red flag, cause it ain't that difficult and he is probably stalling. |
