Will it matter if my degree from College of Santa Fe in New Mexico (now called Santa Fe University of Art and Design) is notarized and apostilled in Missouri? I've heard two different things.

Anybody have anything to say good/bad about these cities (in order of my current preferences, subject to change):
1. Incheon
2. Seoul
3. Busan

Looking for a large city on the international stage or a bit smaller. I've heard Incheon is where the nightlife is and close to the DMZ like Seoul-the capital city, but Busan is the baseball capital and is near the beach.

You are located in Missouri, but your Uni is in NM. You will not be able to do this process in Missouri. Notaries and Apostilles are available in the school's home state only.

i.e. A local (to the school) notary will testify that this is a legit doc in his area, then the SOS will testify that that notary is legit for int'l uses (Apostille.) The notary and SOS in Missouri cannot certify something outside of his zone.

Your process will take two steps: Send the original diploma and a copy of it to your uni. They should have a notary. You get it back then send it to the NM SOS for the Apostille.

I'm doing that right now for a school in Conn. Pain in the arse.

You are in San Diego, but you have to go to Connecticut for notarization!?

Here's a website that told me differently:
http://marshalljonesjr.com/how-to-get-an-apostille-for-your-degree/

"But contrary to some of the rumors online, you dont have to get your degree notarized and apostilled in the state where you received your degree. You can get it done in any state you want."

All by mail. Just got my notarized copy back from my school. Will now send it to their state's secretary of state and wait 2 weeks.

The California one (Master's) is on its way back via mail and I'll take that and my Calif. DOJ check for Apostilles in person in downtown LA. 10 minute service (had I mailed it, they say 3-4 weeks.)

A company will do all this for you, but at high rates.

KSA wants degree verifications as well.

Costs so far:

$7 UG degree verification (www.degreeverify.com)
10 UG notary charges (postage)
3 Grad. postage
20 Grad. notary fees (10-diploma, 10-letter of verification)

40 UG apostille - CT
10 UG apostille postage
78 Grad, Grad DV, CBC apostilles - CA

52- Calif. DOJ report
50 -Visa fee

I suppose I could have asked a California Notary public to notarize my Undergrad (CT) diploma copy and have the CA SOS Apostille it...but when you're dealing with picky, picky immigration officers, it is better to be safe than sorry.

I called the Korean Consulate in NYC regarding the same situation. They told me you do not have to have your degree notarized/apostilled in the same state as you received it. They said it can be done in any state as long as the apostille is from the same state as the notary.

husker19 - you're only half right.

Where the apostille is from is unimportant. BUT, if the notary is doing his job, he won't notarize a degree if he cannot verify it. That's the whole point of submitting the degree with apostille, so that you can't just laser copy off some diploma.

OP, if you can get a notary and an apostille on it in your home state, good for you, but the odds are that they won't do it.

My personal experience - rather than drive the hour to the university and capitol building to get a degree copied/notarized/apostilled, I just had the secretary at my fathers office notarize it. Got an apostille on it. Immigration looked at it and said no - it was notarized and apostilled, but there was not a university official's name and statement saying that it was a true copy of the diploma granted to me by the University.

So, you may get lucky, but do you really want to chance it?
