i'm flying to the u.k. just wondered what peoples' thoughts are about other passengers wearing flip flops and shorts? i remember an episode of "curb your enthusiasm" where larry goes off on a guy for wearing shorts on a plane... i'm planning on taking it up a notch and couple shorts with flip flops...
so is this strange travel attire? rude? please tell me what you all think before i'm stuck for 15 hours next to someone grimacing at the sight of my lower extremities...
thanks! |

I'd be cool with it. Just be aware that the bathrooms usually have piss on the floor and you are that much closer to gettin' it on you. There were some Koreans going comando with no shoes or socks on my flight out here from Seattle. Everytime I saw them heading to the loo I shuddered. Cheers. |

On shorter flights, you can probably wear your normal day clothes. Once you get to those 8+ hour flights, you should be as comfy as possible.
I'm big on flip flips (though my Fit Flops give me an extra inch between my bare feet and the dirty floor). Shorts are cool for dudes. I find airports tend to be cold as caves, so I just dress in layers on top with loose fitting blue jeans on bottom.
Nostalgia for flying being a fancy occasion doesn't make sense for anyone under 60. :/ |

Flip flops are fine. On some flights they may give everyone a pair of disposable airline sandals to use, i'd usually slip out of my shoes into those. Flip flops would've been better in hindsight. |

No problem in my books as long as you're clean. Wash those feet in the airport bathrooms before you get on the plane. |

I find the most comfortable for flying is sandals with socks. Your feet are temperature regulated by the socks (not too hot or cold) and no one has to look at your feet. This plus some sweat pants and a tshirt with a hoodie is the ultimate in comfort.
Unfortunately, I've been flying with Koreans for too long and now I dress nicely. |

haha! i know! i just wanted to exit korea in the best possible terms and i may or may not be sat next to a korean on the plane...
the last 4 years have been good in korea, and i didn't want to end on a sour note...

i once boarded a flight wearing a singlet, thongs ("flip flops") and thai fishing pants. most comfortable flight ever.
i still think this is a really, really weird thread. |
