Seriously how many? wiki says about 540 which seems awfully high. Makkoli has like 82 to 100 calories.

no way that a 1 liter bottle (the usual bottle size) of mak gul li has 100 calories in it. Much higher.

540 calories for a 500 ml soju bottle has been quoted in the k-press, though.

It's got a bunch of god knows what in it, I wouldn't be surprised if it is 500 calories.

I bet they add sugar to it too, like everything else. Rolling Eyes

For what it's worth, alcohol has 7 calories per gram. I'm guessing the remaining calories in the beverage are carbs at 4 calories per gram.
Magkeoli is more filling than soju so you might drink less of it. Also, it has much less alcohol.
I think the 540 # for soju is what I would go with.

Yes, the carbs in beer stimulate an insulin response, the fat-storing hormone. Drink all the hard liquor you want, as long as not accompanied by carbs like a coke mixer or snacks, and your body won't work hard to absorb and store the potential energy ("calories") it provides.

Red wine can help in weight loss but makkoli is rice wine and the carbs in rice if still in the wine are a recipe for weight gain.

Thanks. Actually, I meant the number seemed right. I don't recommend drinking the soju. ^^
