Hello all!!

Natasha back again!Back to job hunting after taking a few days off from thinking about EPIK,GEPIK,hagwon and everything else in between!!

My question is EPIK and GEPIK ask for 2 references, now does one of these HAVE TO BE FROM UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR?It doesnt say one has to be but does it look better if one is from applicants University and another from job experience????

Would you be penalised if one reference wasnt from University?

Just am thinking of applying now again but my University is closed til mid September except Applications office so cant get reference from them but can get 2 references from 2 jobs (both teaching experience).

What does everyone think,
Any opinions and facts welcome,

Yours Gratefully,
Natasha

Mine were from ex-hagwon bosses and PS principals.

but I don't know if the rules are different where you are applying.

Your entire university is closed? Unlikely. Professors still "work" during the summer. Try and email one of them directly and explain your situation.

It's fine. For my first PS job both were from university professors. For my next it was a mix, for my third both were from my former PS jobs. Either/both are fine according to the EPIK website...the reason why they ask for a reference from professors is because they know most applicants are fresh out of university.

I don't see it being a problem

2 references who are NOT related to you.

They can be a professor, employment (supervisor/employer), or a reference from volunteer work.

Yes ren546 in Ireland our University professors have a very long summer-they are free mid May until September!

Students are free at end of May until September and for some courses students don't start back until mid or late September when they start their next semester.

I think the Republic of Ireland has the best holidays out of anywhere-especially the education system. For primary school kids have 2 months off for Summer,2 weeks Xmas and 2 weeks Easter as well mid term breaks (1 week each in October and February) and other bank holidays scattered throughout year.

For secondary school and college, you can add an extra month-June as well as all the other holidays above as the pupils finish end of May.

Nice,isn't it??
