My girlfriend gave me the idea of us saving a little money each month for a vacation in the future.

Our budget is around 1,500,000~1,800,000 won total.

Looking to go somewhere for a week.

Any recommendations?

The Philippines.
Plan now for your winter vacation.
Watch for seat sales on Cebu Pacific. 600k won can get you both to Cebu on a seat sale). After you land a quick ferry to Bohol or domestic flight (CEB - Boracay) gets you on the beach for your "exotic" vacation.

HongKong is do-able on that budget as well but it will be cool in the winter and fun stuff can get expensive (since you won't be sitting on the beach or snorkeling).

Thailand may be possible (depends on the flight costs). (For a couple) think 700k plus airfare for BKK and 1 mil + airfare for a week on the beaches or the islands.

.

tom is pretty much spot on as usual. your options are totally based on the flight costs. shop the air asia and cebu pacific sales daily. if you catch a seoul to KL sale on air asia you have a lot of options. there is a sale on this route for about 12 hours a few times a year. the sales for good dates go extremely fast.

Philippines definitely sounds great... I was mainly looking to just relax on a nice beach outside of Korea to get away from the cold here in Seoul during the winter. as always ttompatz... thanks!

El Nido, Palawan in the Phillipines may be the most beautiful (and undiscovered by the tourist masses) place on earth.
Stay at La Salangane, or you can find nice places that are more inexpensive.

The highlight for us was visiting the secret beach.. which supposedly inspired Alex Garland's novel "the beach" (he wrote it while staying in El Nido)
