|
Short story:
1. Set up nonghyup banking on my laptop
2. Left Korea
3. Partition damaged, can't boot windows but can access windows files through linux.
So now I'm stuck outside of Korea with no access to my online banking.
Would it be possible to copy/paste files from my damaged laptop onto an undamaged laptop running WinXP. What files would I need to copy/paste?
(given that it takes me 10 minutes to spell 'nongyhup', this might be asking a lot) |

What exactly do you mean by "set up online banking"? What is the reason you can't access it?
I'm going to take a guess and assume you were storing your security certificate on the damaged partition?
If that is the case, the files that you need are stored in a folder called "NPKI" in the root of the drive. If you copy that folder over to a new drive you should have no problem getting it to work again. (For future reference it's a good idea to keep a back up of this somewhere, a USB flash drive for example)
If that does not work you can always re-issue a new certificate from the bank website. Click on "공인인증센터" and follow the instructions. You'll need your account number, account password, alien registration number, and some numbers from the code card that the bank gave you. |

I thought it would be more secure than that..like they might add a key to the registry?

Thanks, I'll give that a try if I'm stuck. |
