yeah, how exactly was the OP "shot down"?
i just read in the paper here at work that anyone who has been a long-term resident has to basically turn themselves in from january next year for a facial scan and inking.
i thought that was really funny for some reason. i don't know why. |

Actually, anyone who renews or changes their status from now on will have to get printed and photographed.
All new ARC applications will be accompanied by the requirement as well.
They hope to have most done by the end of the year.

Not one of OP's better moments, lol |
I wasnt really looking for a big argument or anything, if you read another comment I made, i dont disagree with what is going to happen.
I just was reading the Korean Hearld, saw this article with news about foreigners. since this is a place where people post things to do with foreigners in Korea I thought it was appropriate to do so.

while i should know better than to go up against probably the most knowledgeable and helpful member of this community, i'll say it anyway: i politely disagree.
i renewed my visa not three days ago, and have yet to be asked to be facialised or inked.
i was, however, informed that my application for another multiple entry visa was unnecessary, as they no longer exist - e2's can come and and go as we please, as long as we have our ARCs. |

the implementation of this policy is quoted in the article to be as of this Friday, meaning July 1, 2011.
which means you missed it by three days.
the change in multiple visa, etc was part of a broader change announced on this forum a long time ago. |

A similar fingerprint registration system was abolished in Korea in 2004.
|
Why was it abolished? Since when is there political correctness in this country? 2004 was prime period of hysteria following 9/11. Seems like an odd time to remove something like that.
I'm surprised they didn't do this back in 2007 or so, when Japan/US etc did it. |

| So if you leave Korea to go on holiday and then return will you then be subject to the process at the airport even if you only have a couple of months left on your contract or will they just process everyone on an E2? |

Bottom Line: What's the Bottom Line on this? Is it going to cost me a lot or a little to jump through these hoops?
Related to that, is there someway I can start up some company to make money off of this? |
