Hey everyone! I'm looking at a Job at the moment and they want me to get there ASAP, I have all my documents in a row and they want me there by mid/late July.

Last night the director called me and outlined the plan on how they want to 'speed up' the visa process.

The plan to fly me in, and have me bring all my documentation with me. There I'll do my orientation while they submit my documents to immigration then they say they'll send me to Japan while it's processed (2 days, 1 night) and bring me back in to start teaching.

Anyone ever heard of this? I know there are Japan 'visa runs' but I thought that was mostly for people at the end of their year contract that are renewing and have no choice but to leave the country for a short while.

Are you a first time applicant from the US?

All first time applicants must do an interview in your home country and have the visa issued in your home country.

Not aware that the rules have changed.

Thanks Riker

Yes I'm a first timer from the US. I've tried to do as much up front research as possible and hadn't heard anything like this before for first timers so it seemed like kind of a red flag.

Sometimes I think I've done too much research... I'm almost convinced every offer I get is someone trying to trick me >.>

This is true...If you are a first time Visa Applicant then you must get your visa in your home country. You gotta be patient and request the documents ASAP.
