Hi,

Next week is the last week of term, and some of my middle school Grade 3 classes have chosen to spend the lesson watching a TV show or film.

Some of them want to watch an episode of The Simpsons, which is fine, but I'm looking for alternatives, so they might choose something different.

Do you have recommendations for half hour / thirty-five minute shows that grade 3 middle school boys would like?

I did some lessons using clips from Youtube of Trigger Happy TV and World Shut Your Mouth recently, which the students really liked. This is a British Comedy show where the guy tricks members of the public. The problem with this is that I think most episodes would contain something a bit dodgy - i.e. I might get some complaints from parents. Then again - perhaps Dom Joly's shows might be okay - I need to watch some full episodes.

I'd like to find something suitable, and accessible, that they haven't seen before.

On Youtube, you can get whole episodes of Mr. Bean. I'm doing "Mind the Baby, Mr. Bean" with some classes, followed up by a simple bomb game based on the show.

Mr. Bean is good because you don't need to understand English to enjoy it, but it's possible that after years of EFL classes with native speakers, Korean students have had too much of the Beanster.

Animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Old Mr. Bean TV specials from the '90's.

I've shown Mythbuster's episodes to middle schoolers before. The can learn from it as well.

Recent Spiderman animated series was well done.
