The kids at my school keep singing this song ^ and its driving me crazy! They are now officially banned from mentioning the word AMERICANO in my class.
Yesterday the office girl had this song on repeat for about 40 minutes, yeah I know its a catchy song but stop it please!
I know there are lots of Americans here in Korea, so if any of your parents are in the army, say Guantanamo, maybe you could suggest this song as an alternative to water boarding?

The song is talking about Americano, as in the coffee drink that is espresso mixed with hot water. This drink was coined by Italians, who noticed the GI's (after liberating most of Europe) would mix their espresso's with hot water since they were accustomed to a much weaker "drip" coffee.
Also the guy is singing about how much he likes Americanos. First 3 lines: "Americano, so good so good. Americano so strong, so strong. I don't like it with syrup." You would know this if you learned even basic language skills of the country you live in.
Furthermore, there is no Army at GITMO, it is a US Naval base with Marines and Sailors.
If the song isn't about the coffee drink, he apparently he likes Americans A LOT, and without syrup.
How can a song about coffee spring a discussion on GITMO and Grenada? Geez I wonder why I even bother still looking this site up every once in a while. "Hey I made a new game, its called jump to conclusions...do you like it? |

Lee Myung Bak thank you for the lesson in coffee!
You should be sterilized you silly billy! I guess you didn't catch the point of my post.
Who said that Americans don't have a sense of humor?
Now stand in the corner for 10 minutes and take a 'time out' |

What is water boarding?
Isn't a part of that song based on an earlier song? It reminds me of this strange cartoon I saw once. A music video sort of thing with crows flying around. Almost propaganda-like. I'd love to find it again if anyone has any idea what I'm talking about... |

lol at the president having some issues...
my girl told me that the song came out a while ago but suddenly surged in popularity recently. i know all the pop songs every month because koreans play the same 10-20 songs on repeat at every single shop, cafe, bar, pc room and blasted on speakers on the sidewalk lol |

Yes, I've also come to hate that word due to the trashy 'we no speak americano' club song that every single establishment had on repeat in the winter/early spring.
As for the Korean version I'm guessing it became popular due to the aforementioned trashy club song.
The original from which the sample is from is surprisingly good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BqlJwMFtMCs |

thanks for posting that vid..the songs really good. i can't stand the club song i've been hearing for like the last year and a half or two. they've got to have a new song to play...and i always hear that song as someones ringtone everywhere..even 60 year old ajummas
the koreans obviously did a remake of it:

thank god for that. to give the newer guys a perspective. Koreans up until maybe 2/3 years ago who WOULD drink coffee drank it REALLY REALLY weak. like brown water, and they liked the hazelnut kind, but you couldnt taste it.
i thank god coffee culture has really exploded here, now if every single place didnt taste almost the same...
my friends dad said they drank cappucinos in "cafe" in the early 90s in Seoul. hmmm |
