|
|
So. I accepted a position at a school where they dont provide pension and they do provide private health insurance. I know as an employee i SHOULD be getting pension but I accepted the position regardless because it was the first school out of 15 I interviewed with where the teachers seemed happy. I decided I could (hopefully) fight for my pension later. So its later. Im a few weeks into my first month and I want to know if/what I can do to make sure I get my pension later, if anything. From what I read its looking like I should keep track of all pay stubs, and register myself at the pension office after I get my ARC and first paycheck(how do I do that)? And then start paying into pension myself(how do I do that)? And then, at the end of my contract, once Ive collected my severance, last paycheck, and had my flight booked home, THEN I contact the pension office and report the school? What is this like? How do I get my money after I leave? Is this just too big of a hassle with a sketchy outcome? Im willing to do leg work to get the $ and see that the school pays as they legally should - I just want to make sure its not all in vain and I end up with no money and a pissed of school. Any help would be great! Thanks!! |

Don't wait until your contract is up. Unless you like having no medical insurance cover as it's quite likely that if your boss hasn't registered you for pension then he/she is very unlikely to have signed you up (and making contributions) to the government's medical scheme either.
Edited to add: I see you get private medical insurance. You do realise that most private medical insurances here cover hardly anything? Change that pronto. |

I KNOW Im not registered for pension. As I stated. And yes I understand that private insurance doesnt cover much - I dont think there is too much I can do to change that. I am allowed to choose my own private insurance, which I have for the time being. Other than that I dont think there is too much I can do. I already signed the contract and I am working... cant really change the contract once you have singed it. |

It doesn't work that way. The school pays half and you pay half. If you go to the pension office after the first paycheck they are going to want to know your school's name and address. And then they will contact the school to tell them to pay their share. And then you will likely be fired. And Korean labor law states that you can not file for unjust termination until after six months of working there. |
