hi all,

if any of the forum experts can please advise....

a motel that costs 35,000won per night --- what sort of deal should i be looking for, for a 1 month stay...

does a 40% discount sound about right? -- ie roughly 600,000 won for a month?

thanks for any answers
Smile

Depends on where you are in Korea. Expect to pay more in Seoul. However, if I were you I'd find a nice air-conditioned yogwan in a desired area and start it off at 275. I lived in Yogwans in Cheongju (Chungbuk) and paid 200-250 in the late 1990s early 2000s..lots of yogwans have a long term floor where people stay monthly. You may be living next to a pole dancer and a pool hustler (what great memories!), but enriching these times will be because you see and hear so much more of Korea when you live in a yogwan. The best things about yogwan living are the value, and that jangjangmyun places and tabangs can easily find you. I think every foreigner living in Korea should experience at least a month of yogwan living.

Living in a love motel sounds a lot better than goshiwon living, considering you get your own bathroom and possibly a big screen tv and computer. The downside is having to go out for every meal (that's not a downside to me though Smile )

I'm going to try and find a motel in Seoul for this because I will be staying in Seoul for two months this fall.

I'm staying at a goshiwon at the moment. I wonder how much love motels for a month or two. Sounds a lot better than living in a goshiwon.

I stayed in them before for 2-3 weeks anyway. At one the woman working there just did my laundry for me without me asking and free of charge. That was cool.
