Could anyone tell me what they've paid or know about costs for root canals and a crown? I've heard different prices varying if your korean is good enough to be treated better. Versus an english speaking office that will rip you off. This true? |

At the dental clinic in a Korean (not international) hospital you are probably looking at 400k won for the root canal, post, fill and crown (non precious metal). If you want gold it will be significantly more.
If you go to a dental office it will cost more (the fancier the place the more it will cost).
Most dentists that I have met have basic English skills (even though the receptionist won't speak a word of English) and some are as fluent as you would like.

Also consider going to a couple of places for the first check of what needs to be done. Get a second opinion. Some dentists will say you need a crown or a root canal or even a wisdom tooth pulled when you do not need it. They will make small problems into big ones a simple filling becomes a root canal and crown. They love to up sell - no - no to the ceramic you need gold. Still in the end the prices here in Korea are a whole lot better then back home.
It might be hard and you might want to go for the nice English speaking clinic you saw in 10/Groove magazine. Avoid those they will be nice and modern but they are twice the price. Dentists are abound and most have some basic English. Go for a simple check ask for what needs to be done. IF you are unsatisfied with the service or language - do not got back. You might be out 20,000 won at the most. |

Ture, in the little bit I got done here, I think that prices are better than most countries in the west.
But to be fair to the Korean dentists I've gone to plenty of dentists in England and Ireland and most have tried to sell me filling after filling an all sorts of shit, that wasn't really needed. |
