Anyone want to help me out? Please don't say "mythbusters, dirty jobs, etc" I do not enjoy them.

I found the show "Meerkat Manor" to be both interesting and enjoyable. Those little guys lead pretty eventful lives, and it's interesting learning about a species of animal.

definitely, this show is entertaining to me

there's also Lion Country. if you can find this show, its amazing because most of the lions were exotic pets and can't be re-introduced in wild, but they are working to make it happen for the next generation, its entertaining to see how him being treated as a Lion member

Not on any of those channels you mentioned, but nonetheless, I recommend BBC4's Lost Land of the Tiger. I think you can find the episodes on YouTube, there's only 3. Cool

Are we seriously excluding BBC and other independently produced documentaries? Because the channels you mentioned have been going downhill for years.

I really like the "locked up abroad" series on Nat Geo -- you can google search a few sites that stream them online for free.

I agree, the state of discovery nowadays is displeasing me at best. I couldn't include BBC because my thread title was far too long, but feel free to make any suggestions to fit the bill!

I also found that Big Cats show on animal planet great. I forgot the exact name but they document the lives of cheetah, leopards, a lion pride, etc.

The discovery channel ultimate journeys series seems far too manufactured with lame people in every shot, it ruins it for me.

I'm going to go ahead and recommend anything made by BBC's natural history crew:

Planet Earth (obviously)
South Pacific
Great Rift Valley
Madagascar
Ganges
Life
Human Planet (this one is probably my favorite, it's about extreme human adaptations that allow us to thrive anywhere)
Caribbean

Also, I recently snagged Ken Burns' National Parks documentary. A lot of it is the history of the parks, but even if you're bored by that the vistas are often impressive.

Anything made by David Attenborough. Not only for the quality of production but also for that sweet sweet voice.

Adding to the others...Blue Planet(right up there with Planet Earth), episodes of Horizon, Oceans

Human Planet as mentioned is very interesting. Particularly the scene with the untouched/uncontacted Amazon tribe.
