|
|
I know this is probably a silly thing to worry about, and many of you will think I'm an idiot for asking; but I'll take that chance.
Back in March my wallet was stolen and I filed a police report.
At the police station, they took all my information, ARC stuff and so on.
The thing is--they fingerprinted me, too and I'm just concerned that if k-immi sees that, they might deny my visa just because there is a record of me in a criminal matter
Of course I was the one who filed the report, but I lived in Korea for 4 years, and I can just picture them not looking into the reason. They could deny me just because I'm "in the system."
Anyhoo-my question is this:
Should I mention this on my KR CBC form?
Should I tell my contact at the UNI?
Should I just say nothing and hope for the best?
Also-does anyone know how the Korean CBC works?
I hope I'm just being paranoid!!
P.S. It would be great if veterans like tthompatz could chime in.
THANKS!
I did get the wallet back, by the way |

You let them fingerprint you over a lost wallet. Should have just left the station at that point.
Probably won't cause a problem, but if it did, you're clearly to blame for randomly giving up your rights for no valid reason. |

Do you have any documentation from when they found it? For example, a letter stating they found it?
If they took your ARC card and you worry you are in the system, why not test it? Go there NOW, see if you are in the system, do the detective work, and get some documentation supporting why you are in the system.
Then, if you are denied, take the documentation with the denial letter and show them. It will be harder for them to use the "system" excuse if you can trump it (and with documentation from Korea it is fighting fire with fire).
You could go before any denial, but then it might just cause confusion and delays before they confirm. I think it's best to chance this one and be prepared with documentation in case you need to cross that bridge.
I'd be happy to place my bets you won't have any problems though. I think I have a greater chance of not getting accepted than you. At the airport last year, they had to question me (with obvious answers like "Which bag is yours?") and do a full luggage inspection after the usual scans at check in. They saw music cords for my guitar and adapters in the scan, and they pulled me into a security room. It was weird because after I pointed to my suitcase they left suddenly and waited for like 2 minutes in silence like I was going to blow up the place with guitar strings and rca adapters to speakers
Then they had me sign some sheet and let me go. So, I am pretty sure I am in the "system" too. |

I should probably clarify-they only took my thumb print, and they had taken the thumb print of my manager also, who came with me to the police station.
What can I say-I'm a worrier!! |

The thumb print isn't for a criminal case against you. It's to verify that you are the person you're purporting to be on the complaint you lodged. |

I've been printed, all ten fingers, and I've had no trouble getting subsequent visas.
Relax.
Besides, every foreigner has to get printed and face scanned now. |
