..school won't move me.
I'm at my wits ends. Last night the neighbour had his tv on full blast and was shouting etc. Sounded like a party.
There are numerous other sources of noise and I have not been woken my alarm clock once since arriving in Korea 2 months ago.
The only other option was to move into an apartment owned by the principals friend but I viewed that and it turned out to be shoe box.
I CANNOT continue like this. I'm losing my mind and see myself getting depressed.
They said that I can go somewhere else but that I'd either have to pay the key money myself or find somewhere that doesn't require key money.
Does such a place exist?
The contract on my present place is up in jsut over a month so I thought that this would be a fine opportunity for the school to move me. But they won't.
What options do I have? Surely they must move me if I can't bear it and my health is at risk? |

Believe it or not they are being reasonable. They're too cheap to pick up the key money tab but you CAN find a new place that doesn't require key money if you get a Korean friend and try. My girlfriend just found a place that was 450k a month, no key money.
But since your school doesn't want to find a place FOR you (which is what I'm gathering) my best advice is to pull a runner. You answered your own question, your only options at this point are pull the runner or tough it out. Good luck.
PS your health isn't at risk because the dude next to you is loud. lmao @ how many people exaggerate here

Why not used earplugs then set your phone alarm to vibrate and stick it inside your pillow case. Might work. |

I understand your frustration - I too am a very sensitive sleeper.
If you have a smartphone, get a white noise app, and sleep with headphones. I know it sucks that your rights are being impeded on, but at least you might be able to catch some sleep. |

Have you tried talking to/getting someone to talk to your neighbors? |

this may be obvious, but have you ever tried knocking on your neighbors door and asking to keep the volume down? if so, and it persists tell your school to complain to the landlord. |

Yeah surely there are other people in the building who are equally as pissed off as you are. Try getting them to talk to the landloard for you. It could work. |

Other options:
www.nearsubway.com
Craigslist
Goshiwon
You can navigate all 3 of the above without a Korean assistant. |

I lived with my boyfriend in one of those shoe box apartments. I like to sleep early. He goes to sleep late. Thus, I could never sleep and caused a lot of problems. Then I had an epiphany. Earplugs.
If they're uncomfortable or you don't like them, try to wear them for a week and see the difference it makes. It's worth it. If they block out the sounds of someone sitting right next to you, they'll block out your neighbors. |
