So, I decided on travelling the east coast of Australia by train. I am going to initially fly from Melbourne to Cairns, then work my way back to Sydney by train.

I was thinking of getting the Australia East Coast Discovery Pass. Has anyone here had any experience with it? Exactly what trains can I use it with? I saw online that it works with the Queensland trains and some other train, but there are multiple names of other trains under those main names.

After I determine what trains the pass is good with, then I can get a route together. I plan to get the North-South pass. How can I get my tickets online before I go with the pass? I imagine there must be some agent in Seoul that I can get the pass from. But how can I get each individual stop's ticket? Also, what seats are they good for? My wife and I are both going, so we would like to get a private cabin/room instead of the seats. Can I use the pass to get a sleeper room? Is it only good for the economy seats?

even if you would be making a saving of 10%, what i would recommend is buying this pass IN australia. you'll be dealing with english-speakers most likely AT THE STATION at the beginning of your trip. and trust me: cairns is catered to tourists.
