So after they send me a contract offer and it looks ok, what is the proper / best way to to ask for the teachers info?

Should I ask for both email and the phone number of current and past teacher?

if you're seriously asking this question I'd think twice about moving to a different continent. In all the posts I've read on this bizarre forum this has got to be the most stupid question I've ever come across.

Just ask for god sake, and make sure it's not the person you're replacing!!! Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed

Don't listen to other people in this thread, they're morons.

If you have a recruiter, get them to ask. If you are in direct contact with the school, send them a polite e-mail asking for the phone number (not e-mail) under the pretense that you want to ask them about the area they live in and what they think about Korean culture. Don't say anything about wanting to know more about the school, that comes when you get in contact with one of the teachers. Most ESL teachers will help you, as they went through this as well.

Good luck.

I'm not a moron!! The question is stupid at best, the op needs some life skills if they're asking questions like that. And know most ESL teachers will NOT be happy to help especially if they're speaking to the person they're replacing!! What the hell are you talking about? Have you even ever been to Korea? Have you ever heard of a thing called courtesy? Most teachers don't talk to the person they're replacing (you've got it backwards) they talk to a CURRENT TEACHER, usually just some schlub that works there. In fact, anyone who doesn't try to find out the scoop from the foreigners at their school is a schlub as well, why work at a crappy hagwon when you can get the heads up? You make it sound like it's worth it to NOT do it, when in fact, it's the opposite.

Fly away, troll.

I've been here 6 years you prat. Most hogwons will supply you with the details of the person who you are replacing because they'll say nothing bad because they need to find a replacement.

The op's original question was stupid and your advice is naive at best and plain stupid at worst. Wink Wink Wink Wink Wink Wink Wink

Sounds like you live in an ESL bubble and all foreigners who walk the land of kimchi are honest to boot, wise up you fool!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing
