Is anyone here going to this? Did anyone go last year? Is there any advice on the best stands to watch the race in?
Any info about the race weekend would be v appreciated. |

I haven't checked, but isn't it in November or something? seems a bit early to be thinking about it just yet.
Last year at Yeongam it was probably the worst race of the season actually. It started so late and visibility was really poor. Most of the time the cars were stuck behind the safety car. In a way its interesting to have one unpredictable race of the season though...because it shakes everything up.New track and Korea's first time hosting the F1.
Hopefully things will improve a bit this year. One thing i would ask them to do is.. put some grass down! its all just way too dusty. |

Did you go? If so where did you sit?
I'm only asking as there is an early bird offer to get a discount on the seats so any people who liked their seats last year would be great to hear from. |

Actually the earlier the better. Up until the end of March you were able to get a 50% discount on all tickets. I think the previous round, till the end of June, got a 30% discount, but as of now you can just get a 10% discount. |

Couldn't disagree more. It was miserable sitting there in the rain all day and agonizing when they halted the race for an hour after a few laps behind the safety car, but when they really got going it was a fantastic race. I dont tend to agree with Eddie Jordan but he said the same on the broadcast. You obv trade off seeing a lot of what happens on track for the fun of being there, but watching the download the next day confirmed how good it had been.
We had the cheapo tickets in section J, although due to the stands not being ready and the weather we were told to sit in Section E with a decent view of one of the big(ish) screens.
We got a bus and hotel deal through Waygook Cook (google it), they can organise tickets too, very highly recommended. It is a bugger getting home but we were back in Seoul by 2am, and the race finished about 2 hours later than expected. |

Superb stuff. Did you scout out another stands while you were there? Was E stand a good view of the cars? Are you going back again this year... I heard it had a pretty poor customer service around the track that put a few people off. |

IMO it's very bad management from F1, they are coming into a new country where F1 is not even known, they expect people to pay the same money they do in monoco or melbourne etc.. but this is Korea they build the stands with not great views from the bleeder seats, at least in monoco or melbourne you can see the race well from the cheap seats, even for free around the city.
they are trying to promote F1 in Korea, give good seats to everyone, and give the best seats to the Vips, set up seating all around the track for everyone to see well, let in people who want to just sit on the grass etc..
make F1 fun for all the family and build the sport here, I mean also it's really out of the way! charging those stupid prices for a new sport is crazy.
they need to promote it for 5 years and make it cheap with great seating for all to feel the excitement and the adrenaline not an empty wallet with bad seats and then think to yourself.. WTF!?
you want to promote F1 , then promote it, make the money from the TV rights, not from robbing the people who are coming out to see something new.. the greed really puzzles me sometimes.. it's like no one wants to wait... |

What seats are you referring to? Looking at the track plan there seems quite a good mix of straight, fast corner and slow corner seats to choose from. I also see the cheap seats are reasonably priced. The main grand stand are very expensive but then again they are the best seats in the house.
I'm just curious that you are slating the viewing from the grand stands. Which grand stand in particular do you mean, then hopefully we can avoid seats with bad views. |

I would say the seats and viewing angles are what you would expect from a new stadium-style track with seating for ~100,000, comparisons with Monaco are completely off the beam for obvious reasons. If you have the coin to get into the main stands on the start/finish then you get the views, otherwise I didn't see much difference in view / experience between the other price tiers. our weekend tix were 190,000 through Interpark, although I havent seen the prices for this year.
A lot was made of the problems last year but they pulled it off and deserve a lot of credit for making it happen. Get down there and enjoy it.
Maybe not back this year myself tho, currently a student and its a 500,000+ won weekend I cant really justify. If I was still working I'd be all over it. |

Superb. And with a 50% discount that would be just 90,000 won for the 3 days.
Happy days!!! |
