Yes because usually young children are not aware of social niceties and that. They will ask a fat guy why he is fat. Or if they see a black man will yell out LOOK A BLACK GUY or whatever race. The older people might want to ask but they will just not as it is deemed rude.
But I bet you are treated differently and thought of differently because of the piercings. The same can be said of Tattoos, facial hair, long hair, colored hair, clothes, anything.
The further you are from what is considered the norm by Korean, the more likely you will have consequences. You might not notice some of these consequences but they will be there. So you want to succeed in Korea or any business accept that you might have to look and act professionally.
As a side note - many of us get a sort of a waygook pass. We are not Korean so somethings they will let slide like wearing a slacks and shirt instead of a suit and tie. Thru at other times they will go complete vica versa with the "In Rome" routine" |

| Take them out, no doubt. In most interviews part of the question sequence is a question about piercings and tatoos. They will not reprimand you or anything but it will just increase your chances of getting a job. The schools are a professional environment and it's with children so if you have many piercings or provocative piercings/tatoos then they will not likely hire you. You can always put them back in after you get the job if they don't say anything about it too. |

| I always thought having piercing/tattoos hurting your chances of being successful in Korea/getting a job was common sense. Guess it's just me. |
