| Maybe in the bizzaro world of Daves ESL current events forum, I do lose every debate. I would love to see you try to argue your ideas outside of a forum like this one though. Where have I been proven wrong, I'm still waiting? The libertarian movement is pretty marginal as it is, if anything it's been co-opted by the tea party, which I'm sure you hate. The one truly recognizable one that has proven staying power is leaving soon, probably after he gets 4 or 5% percent in every primary till he can't take it anymore. Obama has done lots and lots of thing I don't agree with. See, the thing is though my ideas have been tested out in the real world, yours are just on paper, or on hundreds of internet forums. By the way, still waiting to be proven wrong about anything I've said to you, I stand by my idea that Bush and Obama aren't comparable to Hitler, and that no other Libertarian candidate will be able to gather the same 5 or 6% percent support in republican primaries for president in the near future. |
You get proven wrong each and every time you're foolish enough to enter into a debate on here. Too many times for me to list individually (and the vast majority of what you post is forgettable drivel anyway). On this thread alone I drew direct parallels between Bush/Obama and Hitler (I even quoted the Nuremburg trial for you), but it's all just over your head. Basically you just don't have a clue what you're talking about and couldn't debate your way out of a paper bag.
That, and thou doth protest too much. Tell me some more how "bizarro" the "tin foil hat" wearing crowd is (in lieu of any actual substance proof of anything), and see how far that gets you. You think you're actually going to convince anyone with your worthless opinions and countless appeals to the 'popular view of things' or so-called 'authority'? (which doesn't jive with reality in any way). I doubt you can even convince yourself. Beyond that, nobody cares, least of all me. |

a) What is his stand on the current debt ceiling issue? (It would be nice if you could restrain the hysteria, but if not, OK.)

It's hard to convince someone who has a hobby of not believing things. Osama's not dead, 9/11 was an inside job, the bilderberg group controls the world, etc... How could I ever hope to convince such an astute skeptic? I mean if most experts couldn't convince, what kind of substance do I have that would stand a chance of breaking you superior skepticism?
The Nazi's were responsible for the death of over 20 million people, How many people have died in Iraq and Afghanistan? Less than 200,000. Most of the those deaths were caused by insurgents and the Taliban. Many of those deaths were an indirect response to the chaos of the area with groups taking advantage of said chaos to settle old scores. The records are not even close to comparable. Your comparisons were absurd, If you cast a wide enough net, any two things will have some things in common. Did I ever say tin foil hat? I think you are satirize your own self in that regard. |

Vladimir Lenin pulled off a revolution that affected the lives of millions of people for about 70 years. Ronald Reagan did it in 1980 and his legacy has lasted 30 so far. RP is just the bastard child of Reagan and Eric Cantor is his illegitimate child. Given that Rand is a major disappointment to everyone except Jon Stewart, RP can only hope that Cantor wins the debt ceiling debate and destroys the republic or he won't have any legacy at all.
Here's a tune for RP:

What would be the result of not raising the debt ceiling depends on the Congress and President?
If we had a responsible Congress and President, they would cut spending to match current revenues and balance the budget immediately so that no additional debt was needed, and put the dollar on a new 100% gold standard. This is an easy task, although politically unpopular. It would require an end to the wars, an end to the empire, the end of victimless crime laws, rational criminal laws, and the end of most of the socialism that is destroying the US economy.
The result would be a booming economy, a stable dollar, economic growth over 10% and unemployment falling to under 3% in 2 years.
However, in the current political environment, we will have the R's trying to cut spending in the House and the D's blocking or Obamo vetos. Then the D's propose to increase taxes with the R's blocking. Finally, some compromise, that is guaranteed to fail, is passed. Meanwhile, there is a lot of pontificating, and political posturing and the US credit rating is finally cut slightly by at least one credit agency.
The result will be continued stagflation until we slip into the next downturn. Unemployment and inflation will continue in double digits, although the government will continue to use phony numbers to pretend otherwise.
Sometime during the 2020s (perhaps a bit sooner) the entire socialist government of the US and its entire 19th century Socialist economic model will collapse.
By then, if we are lucky, enough people will have learned the only new school of economic thought, the only one that has successfully explained this entire mess from 1913 onward and has predicted and explained each downturn in advance - the Austrian school (based on true libertarian principles) - so that the voters will elect an entire new group to the House, 1/3 of the Senate and a new President, and install a system based on the proven laws of economics. |

That it shouldn't be raised. Since the US government is already spending beyond its means (mainly on illegal wars and paying off the gambling debts of Obama's pals at Goldman-Sachs), and ever increased spending and debt debases the currency and destroys the credit of the nation.

| b) What will be the result if the debt ceiling is not raised? |
The US government (which is already bankrupt, hence the need to print money) will default on its debt. Going further into debt will make the default worse for both the US and the rest of the world, not better.

| Just as well. It would be distracting to tend to Congressional duties while being president anyway. |
