Not necessarily the best, or most well done.
Just my fav's, since 2000.

2000- Snatch
2001- The Others
2002- Gangs of New York
2003- Oldboy
2004- Shaun of the Dead
2005- The Butterfly Effect
2006- Mission: Impossible 3
2007- Superbad
2008 -In Bruges
2009- Star Trek
2010- The Fighter
2011- (prediction) Sherlock Holmes 2

I'd be interested to see others' lists.

Funny, I'm about to watch Snatch right now for the first time. Glad to see you recommend it.

For me, it's all about American Psycho

Also thrown in there are the various Pixar films, Inception, and Enter the Void.

Do you really think M:I3 was better than Babel or The Departed? That The Butterfly Effect was better than Munich? That Sherlock Holmes was even that good? That's hard to believe.

One of my favorite movies since 2000 (actually I think it was released in 2000) is Battle Royale (Japanese). It's showing at PIFAN, the Bucheon movie festival weekend and they've revamped it into 3D! I can't wait!

I usually don't say stupid things like this, but the book was so much better than that movie in every regard, it really looks like a huge turd after reading it. The movie wasn't anything to write home about in the first place.

The moment I saw Felicity's eye go sideways it lost me forever, because I couldn't stop laughing at it.

You cheated a little by putting your ties in there Smile
You and I have two the same.

As for Gladiator, have you ever seen the '92 movie of the same name? It made me want to be a boxer.
You've got to at least check out the Seal song at the begining:

Which LotR was your fav? Fellowship, for me.
You liked 28 Days Later more than 28 Weeks Later?
And, um, Gingersnaps? That goddam werewolf movie? With DeGrassi special effects? Oh, man.

AFAIK they said The Hobbit was coming out December 2011 so Razz

OMG, Seal? I still can't believe how he got Heidi Klum. Oldboy and Shaun of the Dead are just too good to let go. Actual there were several years I was completely torn...but tough decisions were made!

I'm gonna borrow your words in reply to this regarding 28 Weeks Later.

28 Weeks was way too 'Americanized.' I think the best part of the movie was when the chopper turned it's blades onto the infected (zombies if you like). But saying that, that was probably the most American part of the movie! I'll stand by Battle Royale. I love that movie. Always have and always will and I get to see it again on the big screen on Sunday!

I know it looks like myself and Joe Boxer are squaring up for a fight, but I too hold MI3 in high regards! In terms of 'leave your brain at the door' movies it slides nicely alongside The Art of War.
