Obesity, type 2 diabetes, hypertension on the rise in America?
What? SHOCKING!
The avg. American diet is so much healthier than the average Korean diet! Did you guys know that RICE has CARBOHYDRATES? I bet you guys didn't know that. In conclusion, Koreans eat unhealthy. Nevermind that S. Korea has one of the lowest obesity rates in the world. Numbers schnumbers. |
Yeah, all true. And the rate of cancer is up too. Too many carbs and sugar.
And, so how about Korea: stomach cancer one of the highest in the world, heart attacks, lung cancer, and the highest suicide rate in the OECD.
But hey, they look good. |

| I'm sitting in a cafe in Pasadena. There is an obese woman sitting next to me. Her lunch consists of THREE drinks from Starbucks, potato chips, a bagel sandwich, and donuts. Sad to see her forcing (he says he's full, she is insisting he eat more) her 5 year old son to eat similarly. |

This.
I don't drink coffee every day, as I fast twice a week.
Tuesday mornings I have coffee with milk in it and a bagel, Thursdays I have said coffee with a DONUT.
You don't have to go all healthy to trim down-it's portion control and pushing away from the table, not stuffing your grill until you're 'full'. |

Agreed. I got two pieces of advice from family members that make so much sense and are so simple.
1. It is all about portion control. It is less what you eat that HOW MUCH you eat.
2. It is basic physics man - energy in VERSUS energy out. Balance the equation or lean it towards the ENERGY OUT side and you are on a winner. |

| Say what you want, but KOREAN kids are getting fatter and fatter, too. In 30 years they'll look like Americans. |

It's no more complicated than this! It just becomes a question of discipline when you are aware of that simple fact
It doesn't help that fruit is pretty expensive, schools provide unhealthy food to kids and parents are even worse. Also a lot of older people develop a slower metabolism but still eat as they did when they were younger
Good exercise is clearly a problem for women too. From what I've seen women aren't as competitive as men when it comes to sports and are generally less athletic so the incentive to play isn't there. I'd like to see the British government really push sports at school more than they have up to now. Introduce volleyball, that's an awesome sport |
