Heya,
So I'm buying sheets to bring along with me. I've gathered that full seems to be the general consensus (better to have sheets too big than too small) but what would everyone recommend for a duvet cover? Should I go twin or full?

Twin unles you are sleeping with someone else then a full.
The bed they supply you with will be small. |

| I would hold out until you get here. There are plenty of places to find bedding here. If you must, just buy the bottom sheet. You'll be able to find lots of different styles of duvets when you arrive. |

What the...Why would you bring sheets?
I bought a whole bedding set off gmarket (padded matress cover, sheet, comforter, and matted blanket) for like 50 bucks~in cute polka dot colors because thats what i was looking for, they were all in queen size because my school had a queen bed for some reason.
If you need help using gmarket; pm me; but dont waste your luggage room or time bringing sheets! |

GOOD sheets are too expensive here.. plus they make good padding for your breakables in your suitcase!  |

| Queen sized sheets are the safe bet. You may be lucky enough to get a larger bed. However, if you get a single bed, it will be longer than most twin beds in the west. A queen sized sheet will be long enough and then you can tuck the extra material under one side. A full sized sheet will not be long enough. Expect your mattress to be a bit harder than you are used to. |

why the hell would anyone waste space in their luggage for bedsheets? you gonna throw in an eggcrate in their as well ? lmao @ you.
All of that stuff can be found cheaper here, the people in this thread saying otherwise are clueless newbies who still haven't discovered internet shopping in Korea.
you were packing in a set of large towels as well when you read this reply. weren't you?

Funny, I brought sheets and towels. Glad I did; I didn't see anything comparable at a fair price for almost 8 months. Like a poster said before, it doubles as wrapping for anything fragile. No drawbacks for me. |

You can find bed bath and beyond quality linens (towels included) for 1/3rd of the price of the BBB store if you just use Internet shopping (which is an incredibly popular way to shop in Korea) if you go to large department stores in Korea you can find quality~but you will pay more.
If you need soft items to help you pack~use more of the clothes or something you already have. (I'm a girl and you can find nice women's clothing on gmarket as well for cheap too)
Again if you need help~I'll be more than happy to help get you set up with this Internet tool that will give you access to everything you think you can't have. |

Here's my thoughts on the sheets:
1) If you're coming to a hogwan BY GOD, ask for the email address of the teacher that's already here and ASK them what size their bed is. Then it's not a guessing game. If you're in EPIK, then I'd take the advice of the other posters.
2) Bring sheets with you. If this is your first trip, the VERY last think you want to be doing after traveling for 36 hours is go shopping in a foreign land for expensive, low quality sheets before you can get some proper sleep. Even beyond that, it will be a while before you're accustomed to things here, including your housing situation, and want to start having stuff shipped to you.
If you want to buy extra bedding once you're here, that is the time to shop online. But I'd definitely bring one set with you.
For the duvet, I would just buy it here. Your school may even provide it, so I wouldn't waste the space to bring it with you. |

I think this is a really good point. While you COULD possibly find something somewhere (depending on where you are), do you really want to be sleeping on a mattress with no sheets your first week or more? This is time you need to spend checking out your neighborhood, meeting people, getting used to the lay of the land. |

I'm pretty sure the OP is a "newbie" if he's asking this question. Also, he might want to sleep before he go's shopping or if he orders them before they are delivered. I brought a couple of towels and some sheets and I'm glad I did. There was no reason not too. And it sure made my first few nights more comfortable.
These things might be available here, but for someone brand new to the country, its not going to be easy to find on day 1. Maybe not even day 10 depending on where they live.

Actually, I DID bring some eggcrate with me at Christmas...and it was space well-spent. Then again, it wasn't the FIRST time I have been to Korea, so I wasn't carrying my initial bags...but yeah, I brought nicer sheet sets with me...and the eggcrate (actually that pricey memory-foam stuff) is a luxury I enjoy every night -- much more important than most of the other things I brought with me.... |
