Ugh.. now is not the right time for me to give an unbiased answer.. up since 3:30 trying to hunt down some 5cm cockroach running around.. there are lots of nooks and crannies in a tiny room, and that sucker is brave

other than that, it's cool.. good location, very quiet INSIDE the goshiwon, free rice, water, internet, and ramen.. pretty clean except when Korean dudes spill ramen in the hallway and don't bother to even wipe it up a little bit

Staff's pretty friendly here, one's really cute, another one speaks English

it is pretty small, has a bathroom in it, gets kind of humid after a shower, but a fan and an open window to the outside helps.. no space for luggage, really.. I had to use up 90% of the closet for my bag..

I've stayed in nice Officetels, I would of course prefer that, but it's twice the price and takes a ton of key money which I don't have..

better 5cm roach than a 15 cm rat. other than the roach, i guess you're adjusting okay. after you catch the offender, post a trophy photo, if you got a camera handy. bonus points if you get the cute one to pose with the roach. btw, what kinda ramen do they got there?

Never found it. Did find a small hole that was near it's last known location. I guess a cockroach isn't the end of the world, but I've never stayed anywhere with a cockroach before. I just remember seeing on TV once that poor people had to go to the hospital to get roaches out of their ears or something. Maybe that was an internet hoax.

Ramen? How do I know? Umm... Korean? The normal bag kind, red bag, umm.. I never really looked at it, I just eat the noodles anyway, without the soup/spice

No room here if you're a dude, I live near EWHA. Twisted Evil

Which means 3 out of the 4 floors are for girls. I imagine most of them around here are, since it's the Woman's College.

I think now might be the time to get them, before students come back for the fall. There are supposedly many of these around here (and around every university).

Shin Ramyun! My boyfriend always goes on and on about how his dad loves that ramyun~I think it's the spice. For some reason I can't prepare it as well as my boyfriend. He said he'd teach me the proper way to do it once, maybe I'll let the secret out to daves then.

yeah, I barely cook it.. some people leave it on the stove for a long time just boiling away..

I read the package, and it said ramyun, and I thought that was the product inside, not the name Shocked

http://www.gosi1.net/subway/subwaysearch.php3

This is a site I found from poster "Hotpants" Twisted Evil

Basically, you just click on the subway stop you want to live near (it's in Korean but if you seriously can not read the Korean letters, you can match it up with an English subway map)

Up will pop the goshiwons nearby, after clicking on the picture, you can then google translate the next page into English..

you've REALLY got to check the places out yourself though.. just show up a day or two before you want to move, and see if there are rooms.. best to make a list of several you want to check out (both for quality and for availability)

the benefits are mostly the same, you really just need to check for cleanliness, and you might want a bathroom & shower in your room (more expensive) as these things are 1, things you might not want to share and 2, featured in the nicer goshiwons

I am living in a shiny new goshiwon right now, thanks to my cost cutting soon to be ex boss. I guess it's not the end of the world living here. I just spend all my time in the nearby cafe. I didn't figure myself for claustrophobic before I came here but it's definetly creeping up on me Confused

I stayed in a fairly upscale one for two weeks. 600,000WON a month.

The rooms were slightly bigger than the average goshiwon. Own bathroom and shower. Full sized closet, A/C, bed, desk, 22inch LCD tv. Most of the people staying there were foreigners for some reason, I suppose cause it's in Sinchon.

Also the food was great. Had about 13-14 or so side dishes everyday in the fridge. Restocked everyday. And free coffee sticks, ramen, etc...

But it does wear on you if you plan to spend a lot of time in your room. Try to get one with a window, that way you'll at least know if its night or day Laughing

What's the name of this upscale goshiwon? Do they have websites?
